This day in history – JAL Flight 123 Crashes

On 12 August 1985 crashed into a Boeing 747-SR46 of the Japanese airline JAL
Japan Airlines Flight 123, on the Tokyo International Airport to Osaka
Itami Airport at an altitude of 1460 meters from the mountain Takamagahara
in Gunma Prefecture, Japan, about 100 km from Tokyo station.
All 15 crew and 505 of the 509 passengers died in the disaster. It is the
heaviest flying accident with only one machine involved.
