着地大人稀，把某些低收入高犯罪的人往一些特定地区赶，让他们自生自灭。报纸报道
过，很多East Palo Alto的原居民因为整个地区被白化、改善，不能负担了，于是就搬
过大桥去了Richmond, Oakland扎寨，那是East Palo Alto底层都能负担的地方，有多
可怕可想而知。
Oakland这块绝大范围属于生人勿近，没事上那里干嘛？我不是反对老中自卫，但是自
卫的方法不是跑到Oakland去，那是沦陷区，直接忽视，而是建立自己种族的势力范围。 |

路不算远，我想就走过去算了。
没想到下午三点多，oakland也不安全。
走了没两步，迎面过来三个teenager，十四五岁左右，都打了耳钉。
我不由瞟了一眼，中间的一个冲上来就是一记耳光，打得我鼻血直流，眼泪哗的就流下
来了。可怜我也是四十奔五的老博士。。。
另一个把手伸到我裤兜里把钱包和cell phone掏走了。
最后一个把嚼着的口香糖吐出来，拍在我屁股上。围观群众哈哈大笑。
还好车钥匙没给我拿走，估计是因为不会开车。
我后来starbucks都没去，直接开车回公司了。
我发誓，以后我再也不去Oakland了，连小女生都这么凶！ |

I used take Bart every day and passed West Oakland everyday.
All trains from SF to east bay will pass West Oakland, and ONLY Richmond &
Concord bart will pass 12/19th St/MacArthur. Fremont/Dublin train won't pass
them. So SF stations or West Oakland stations are good for tranferring. |

可以说活的不错，但看看这犯罪率, 抢劫率，枪杀率，那可都是死人用数据发出的声音
。你说我是相信你还是相信他们？所以谁还想去＂感受文化气息＂谁就去enjoy好了，
但忽悠别人也去承担生命危险就很不地道。建议大家看看discovery频道曾经针对
Oakland以各个族裔划分的黑帮横行的纪录片。看完之后各位可以再来谈谈感受 |

area还不错啊，很多人在湖边跑步遛孩子遛狗。office的同事当然是说还可以啦，有些
地方不要去就好了。 我也不乱逛，在office 旁边的parking structure 趴了车就进
office，5点下班就走，也不多呆。
可是我们碰到的朋友还有同学，非oakland区域的，一听oakland都说不好，不安全。弄
的我lg精神紧张，想让我现在就换工作。我就想问问，有必要吗？lake merritt旁边，
grand ave上能不能上班？
拖家带口的，我当然也不想拿自己的安全冒险，就是想问问了解这个area的人，如果真
的不够安全我就张罗找工作换个地方。

Oakland不但有RENTAL CONTROL, PROPERTY TAX还特别高. 我家PROPERTY TAX的RATE都1
.7%左右了. 此外COE时必须做SEWER LATERAL ($5K-$7K), 1.5%的CITY TRANSFER TAX (
50/50 SPLIT). 总之,自己住没办法,在OAKLAND买投资房需要慎重, 持有成本(TAX+交
易费用)太高. |

要求应该把W7填好，连同护照原件（或公证件）和填好的federal tax return寄到办理
ITIN的地址（不是报税的地址），他们处理完后，把护照原件寄回来，同时把批准的
ITIN号和退税材料转发到报税的部门。
因为岳母近期要回国，另外总是觉得寄护照会有丢失的风险，所以打算到IRS local
office试一下，看能不能查验护照原件后当场退回。
我们在湾区，所以选择了离家比较近的Oakland IRS.

很大的楼，很气派，感觉像国内的政府机关哈。附近不太好停车，周围2－3个block基
本上路边停车都要交费，而且限时1小时。转了转，在大概4个block远的地方找到了免
费停车的地方。
进大楼后先要过安检，类似机场的。
进入IRS office后，前台会给一个号，在等待区等着叫号就可以了。
需要带的材料：
已经准备好的federal tax return原件
填好的W7表(记得签名)
岳母本人必须到场（虽然只看了1眼）
