總統說，中華民國一直在推動經貿自由化，過去曾和中國大陸簽兩岸經濟合作架構協議
（ECFA）、跟紐西蘭及新加坡簽經濟合作協定，很希望進一步能參加區域經濟整合，包
括跨太平洋夥伴協定（TPP）跟區域全面經濟夥伴協定（RCEP），讓中華民國不致於在
全球化的經貿整合中被邊緣化。
總統也提到致力區域和平的努力，中華民國扮演和平締造者角色不僅在台灣海峽，同樣
地也在東海跟南海；過程中，美方在安全及外交方面給予中華民國的支持，是非常重要
的一個力量。

"A lot of people have told me, 'Why don't your daughter have a kid?'"
They both reject that as a plan."
Obviously, having kids just so that the parents can live on wellfare is a
popular method among these people.
I am not sure if that personal decision of not taking this route is a
volunteering decision, though... judging from her daughter's figure... :-)
