- if you are behind a firewall, keeping your system up to date is not
critical. doing it manually in an on-demand basis is more than sufficient.

Yeah, for POP3 you would have to download the entire thing. IMAP works fine,
but it keeps a lock on the mail file, which made multiple access fairly
ugly (say you lock the mail in office and want to check mail at home). The
best solution is to download small email-notifier program such as Email-Notify
(search for them), which would let you preview the header, the sender,
probably 10 lines of the message, delete junk email, and start your mail
reader if an instance isn't already running, etc.

收到催债公司的信 是医疗账单，$183. 去年的service，但是之前我的保险公司没有付
钱，我一直没收到账单，后来收到了，我和保险公司对了一下，发现医院账单和保险公
司的EOB不一样。我要求保险公司调查，如果确实该我付钱，我就会付的，保险公司调
查需要30天，医院也知道这个。我前几天寻思着调查结束，一直打电话给保险公司问这
个事情，上周终于弄清楚了我自己需要付这个，于是就把payment寄给医院了。平信寄
的。
