New Orleans 去过两次，一次是冬天，一次是春天。不知道现在的New Orleans 怎么样
了，前几天看到报纸说还有一些灾民刚刚返回久别的家园。冬天的New Orleans会下雪
吗？
New Orleans 是Louisianan 最大的港口城市，南临墨西哥湾，西靠密西西比河，东部
还有一个水库，整个城市的海拔在海平面之下，去年的Katrina 最致命的一击不过是冲
垮了水库的大坻而已。
两次的造访，感觉New Orleans的确是一个灯红酒绿的城市，一个堕落的城市，一个音
乐与犯罪，狂欢与酒精混合的城市。白天的New Orleans, 安静整洁，就像美国南部的
任何一座小城，街上行人彬彬有礼，Down town的French quarter 一座座欧洲风格古建
筑向游人诉说着这里曾经的奢华，偶尔在街上找食吃的鸽子，路边咖啡店的法文招牌，
远远飘来的Jazz 使人恍如隔世，似乎人在欧洲。碰巧在一个小广场遇到几个街头艺人

忙就没有顾得上. 上周末去New Orleans帮朋友办事, 顺便游玩了一下, 写点文字, 算
是回馈热心的朋友们.
我是12月6日周五的晚上到的New Orleans. 从机场开车出来, 发现New Orleans居然是
美国难得见到的不夜城! 怪不得大家说这是一个party city. 尤其是French Quarter这
个区, 永远都是荼靡的气息. 所谓的香风肉影, 也不过于此. New Orleans是黑人为主
体的城市. 黑人包办了所有的服务行业, 给你开门的是黑人, 给你上菜的是黑人. 你去
听音乐会看到的乐队演奏者也是黑人. 但是消费者却都是来自世界各地的白人. 但是社
会的治安出奇的好, 而且黑人的举止也是热情有礼, 不小心碰你一下, 恨不得把所有对
不起的词都说一遍,让去过Baltimore的朋友全掉了下巴.
周日的晚上有空和朋友们去了French Quarter, 其中的步行街是最热闹的,有点象中国
