in our Texas, public schools are often good.
American friends told us that it is more important to have more "white" ppl
than the score.
for example, we used to look at Euless, TX for home. an elementary school
is 9, but many hispanic kids(30%+). the neighbour hood also looks worse.
the American friends(white) said they won't go there.
instead, in colleyville or grapevine, some schools only 7, but typical white

but it can be very annoying to have a crying baby around.
When I was in high school, my neighbour's kid was crying all night long, for
many times, i just wanted to get into their apt and throw the kid out of
the window.

今天整夜不睡觉也要把这短文补上，希望我的经验能给大家一些参考。
我和英语结仇二十多年了，为了学好它，我还专程去北京外国语学院取经，日
夜苦读至凌晨，为了节省时间把去食堂打饭的时间都省下来了，经常吃快餐面，这辈子
的快餐面都在那段时光吃完了，下半辈子我是不会再碰那玩意儿了。夜晚熄灯时间过后
，就跑去厕所，坐在洗手池的台阶上读书，有没有味道不重要，有灯光就行，后来被宿
管阿姨发现，赶出来，狠批一顿，贴通告，再也不能去了。办法想尽了，就差没悬梁刺
骨了，用功并不代表能学好英语，英语是一种工具，不只是单纯的一门课程，它是拿来
用的，不只是应付考试的。不养成用英文思维的习惯，英文的学习是不会提高的，这和
你记多少单词没关系。比如，一个5，6岁的美国儿童，词汇量也就二千，可是他能流利
的说，不加思索的任意表达，你记了两万词汇不一定口语比他流利，这就是我说的“英
语思维能力”。一个成年人要想将中文的思维能力转换成英文的，这个很难，需要付出

事实上去年我们也遇到过类似的情况，
我女儿当年上K的时候，考上了我们这里一所公立，10分
如果我接送的话车程15分钟，但是要横穿市中心，遇到堵车就没谱，
而且校车是起点站（还要去其他三个点接），单程45分钟不堵车。
孩子当年经常在校车上睡觉的。：（
这所公立的好处是学生少，都是test-base。
去年孩子考上了另一所公立，历史比较悠久，10分
从家接送车程15分钟，不经市中心，很少堵车，
离我的学校车程2分钟，因为不是主干道，基本不堵车，
有时候起晚了，我就直接送她去学校不用等校车了，
校车是最后一站，接了我们直接去学校大约15分钟，路上没有其他耽搁，
如果说缺点，那就是人太多，除了testbase的还有neighbour班。
如果单从成绩上来说，
目前的学校因为有neighbour班拖后退总成绩肯定要差一点。：）
但是综合考虑了之后我们觉得还是家长接送方便更好些。
孩子还小，少跑点路孩子少吃苦。

TERNATIONAL CENTER的FLYER，战战兢兢参加了他们的CONVERSTION GROUP。类似的还有
COOKING GROUP等等。I CENTER的CONVERSATION GROUP里，有学生有学者有男有女也有像
我这样在家陪读的，英语的水平也参差不齐，呵呵，我就是垫底为大家BOOST信心的。大
家还经常做些游戏，这对于我这个刚来三个月，大部分时候都缩在家里看电视的人来说
，还是难度大了一些。
我在那儿认识了一个叫HE的韩国JJ，介绍我去INTERNATIONAL NEIGHBOURS在FAMILY HOU
SING办的一个CONVERSATION GROUP。INTERNATIONAL NEIGHBOURS是一些早年移民美国的
女士，和一些志同道合的美国女士，在一起办的，针对在安娜堡居住的INTERNATIONALW
OMEN的组织。也是各种GROUPS，音乐，读书，手工，对话，水彩，烹调，等等等等。每
月还有一次聚会，每次聚会有一个专题，有一次是教大家跳希腊的什么舞来着。还有一
