is Rudiger Dornbusch while Mundell is Dornbusch's advisor. Mundell did
nothing wrong on this issue.
PK's 1991 economic geography "missed" one essential reference as it did not
cite the famous Ethier 1982 AER paper. If you compare the two papers, you
will find a lot of similarities between them. |

对于美国对外使用武力，无论在西方人还是中国人中，都引起相当的争论，其中批评者
的一个理由是，这是美国人为自己国家利益的行动。但这个批评根本没有力量，因为任
何国家的建立，它的首要职责就是保护本国人民的安全，其次是维护本国人民的利益。
全世界没有任何一国的对外政策不是以本国利益为核心。这里唯一需要探究的是，美国
对外政策核心中的“国家利益”是与本国人民和整体人类的安全、民主、自由的价值是
一致的，还是有对抗性？这才是问题的关键。
从美国在二战、冷战、冷战后（至今）这三个近代历史时期中的对外政策来看，美国的
国家利益与人类安全、民主、自由的价值完全在一个轨道上∶
我们首先看二战。第二次世界大战的历史非常清楚，美国的对外政策首先是为本国安全
，结果促进了世界的安全，结束了纳粹和日本军国主义。在德日意三个“邪恶轴心”侵
略屠杀时，正是美国的参战，才扭转了战局。美国为此阵亡了41万官兵，伤残100多万。

strategy to examine the assumptions, because people can't distinguish one from
another. :)
I kinda feel that Nobel Prize not only values those who make pure scientific
contributions, but also awards the publicity that economists (or scientists
from other fields) make of their own theories. Mundell is very popular among
journalists, Heckman is quite agressive in promoting his theory to
governments not limited to the US, |

就是彻底改变了某个门派的发明人，比如Scholes&Merton，至少获奖者曾作出
一些足以让大家重新认识经济学的发现，比如Lucas，Mundell等，这回的ARCH
和Cointegration,我老是觉得只是一个重要的technique，没有其他炸药奖那样震撼人心。
