The Department of Biostatistics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (
UAB) offers programs leading to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master of
Science (MS), Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Science in Public
Health (MSPH), and a Certificate in Statistical Genetics (CSG).
The MPH and MSPH degrees are offered through the School of Public Health.
These are school-wide degrees allowing a concentration in biostatistics

发帖数: 104 | 3 国内同学的表妹最近很头疼选校的问题，她问我吧我也不是很清楚。。。所以把她的问
题放上来，请大家帮忙看看，感激不尽～
她最近收到的AD有：
1. Emory的MSPH
2. Pitts的MS
3. U of Texas-Houston的MS
4. OSU的PHD
这上面几所目前暂时都没有funding。
她现在可能比较prefer学校1或者2， 1应该比较好但是的学费可能每年比2贵两万刀。
考虑到以后找工作的问题，不知道每年多花两万划算不。（感觉这小mm家里应该也不是
两万刀可以随便拿出来的那种。。。）另外，她听说international students读完MPH
或者MSPH后找工作很困难，主要是身份问题。。。不知道是不是真的。
总之吧，就是这mm希望念完书能留在美国工作，想请大家帮忙分析一下哪个学校比较合
适。
btw, 没funding的同学去了OSU之后拿到funding的可能性大不？

MSPH Program Admissions Requirements
A baccalaureate degree with a B+ average is required. Courses in calculus
and linear algebra are encouraged.
A minimum combined GRE score of 1100 with math score equal to or greater
than verbal score. Students with lower GRE scores but solid academic
performance or prior public health experience and good letters of
recommendation may be admitted as Special Students to be evaluated at the
end of their first semester for full admission into the p |

emory他家的名气够分量吧？在校学生都说机会很多，mph,msph很多都能找到实习，只
不过毕业时若是中国学生又好像都选择继续读博 >,< 不知道老美找工作怎么样？
也不知道phd学生找工作怎么样。。。谁了解情况的啊？？我就想硕士毕业后找
healthcare,pharmaceutical相关的工作。
另外，boston/NY那边工作机会一定比atlanta多很多吗？ 还是说主要都是靠个人能力
。。若去emory只要自己肯折腾，也能找到东北的工作机会吧
