发帖数: 190 | 6 上周末去的Blue Ridge Mountains area, 这个area 包括 Boone (北卡著名的滑雪胜地), Blowing rock, Banner Elk 等这些个town。景点包括grandfather mountain, Blue ridge parkway, The Blowing Rock等。。
1。租cabin
为了租个好cabin, 花了相当长的时间。我们准备的时间比较晚了，大多好的cabin周末已经被租掉了。所以还得早点动手，选择余地多些。不过，一般rental office也会有last minute deal（arrive前2个礼拜就算last minute了）, 一般10% off, 虽然不多，但也比没有强。你得主动问他们，要不然他们是不会主动说的。
租cabin的网站：
vrbo (vacation rentals by owner),从这里开始找起。上面有照片，有guest
comments, 所有设施的描述。基本上看了之后你就知道自己想不想住这个房子。然后查看Availability calendar, 是否还available。不过有时候这个 |

三天时间，我们主要想hike，没有定旅馆，一路准备住帐篷。
不知道有哪些好的hiking trail是最值得去的，网上看的一头雾水。
Day 1：
早上从townsend进山，直接开到Cades Cove，提前预定那里的Frontcountry
Campground， 晚上睡那里。
这是一个11mile的loop，走走停停5小时吧，估计下午就搞定了，附近可有什么好的
hiking trail可以去的？
Day2：
早上经过little river road和New found gap road，再开过blue ridge pkw到Balsam
Mountain，然后去附近的trail耗上一天，晚上想睡在山上的backpack camping site

从芝加哥开过去大概9-10小时的样子。
我们决定两天开过去，一天开回来(这样去时候不会太累，回来反正是回家)
而且避免晚上开车。
第一天早起，娃还可以在车上睡1-2小时。在I65休息区放松，吃简单的早饭
然后到lafayett，放娃玩Imagination Station children museum (ASTC member free)
之后还可逛下 普渡大学。
开车到indianapolis 吃中饭 (The Journey seafood buffet - 还不错！)
indy出来奔Brown county state park, hiking一下，也是放松。
然后娃napping直奔louisville,KY酒店。游泳吃饭不表。
第二天，吃完饭checkout.去mammoth cave.吃中饭。参加tour.然后开车奔
gatlinburg TN mountain resort(娃napping)。
第三天/第四天。smoky mountains.
第五天, 早起7:30 checkout. 休息区，加油。到cincinnati南边一点吃中午饭(

Park现在值不值得去？这次绕了一大圈从明州下德州，然后去New Mexico，再上大峡谷

路上完全没有雪 开车很安全

Charleston和Savannah，发点照片和游记上来看看哦～
周六一早出发，芝加哥来的朋友特意带了短袖来南方，结果还是得裹得严严实实出门。
八成风雪就是追着他们来的。。。开车差不多4个多小时，就到了Cherokee，Smoky
Mountain National Park在North Carolina的entrance。接下来就是找那个visitor
center，GPS、问人，兜来兜去还是花了快一个小时才找到-_-!在找visitor center的
路上，还进了Cherokee的welcome center，里面的人告诉我们说因为下雪，通往
Gatlinburg的路被封了。到了visitor center，坏消息被再次证实，从Cherokee到
Gatlinburg当中的trail被close不说，原本花半个多小时就可以到的Gatlinburg现在要
绕2个多小时才可以到～～～
因为晚上的motel订在了Galinburg，所以要赶着开车去那边，在Cherokee visitor

我去年买过年票外加PARKING PASS。这个PARKING PASS就是一张塑料纸，贴在挡风玻璃
上就可以直接开进去了。我的一直没贴，放在一个塑料袋里。
我这个是3月1日到期，还一个月。如果谁打算去石头山玩SNOW MOUNTAIN，反正至少能
省5块，多去多省。
俺只要5块钱，我2月份肯定不去了。有兴趣的站内EMAIL联系，我FIRST CLASS寄过去，

的速度感，却有着更加脚踏实地的感觉。
Timber Mountain 是 Mount Baldy 地区的一座山峰，海拔 8300 英尺（约 2500 米）
。Mt Baldy 一带的景色都不错，群山连绵，最高的 Ontario Peak 海拔在一万英尺以
上。从时间和距离上考虑，这次先爬矮一点的 Timber Mountain。
总共 9 mi 的距离，3400 ft 的高度差，约需 6 个小时。难度级别标的是 Strenuous，
但是肯定不象草莓峰那样需要手脚并用，一般人都应该能走完。

天气预报 24 日mostly sunny，最高气温 58 度F，最低 34 度F（Mount Baldy）。现在

如果说在南加州进行雪山Mountaineering,通常会认为不太有这样的机会,不过只要找到
高手带领,这也是完全可以实现的,哪怕你是初次尝鲜的菜鸟.
ST Gorgonio南加第一高峰,按上次登顶的感觉,16MI,绝对够一瓢,何况目前远眺过去全
是白色的山顶,不过这就是俄们的目标,难得有高手带领,怎么都不能错过了.
人员是高手带菜鸟的组成,有目前状态正佳的SIERRA CLUB高手,加两位前大学登山社的
牛银,带四个新手,看来是绰绰有余,一路上基本是PIFU开路,exercise收尾,要特别感谢.
大家都准备了雪上的装备,冰爪冰镐,最不济也是STABILIZER(钉鞋).
登山的过程已经有wolfSTAR写过流水帐了,俄就不啰唆了, 随便补充一点.
首先行程的安排, 确定日程要尽早,以后这类比较挑战的行动,禁止在周五才提出,要尽
早确定方便大家准备.另外,每个人能力不同,要按菜鸟的进度安排时间,不能按高手的来
,小马过河,还是要保守些安全第一.

天气预报总是不可靠，天黑时驶过森林瀑布小镇，又下起了雪，路边一个个小木屋里透
出桔色的温暖灯光，松树上挂满了厚厚的雪。这不就是经典的圣诞贺卡么？小时候一说
到平安夜，就会联想到这样的画面。其实这样的风景在别处寻常可见，只是多年生活在
冬天也常有八十多度的南加，难免少见多怪。想不到早春二月，雪又一次下得这么大。
以为停车场会是伸手不见五指，结果不用头灯都能随处走动，四周的景物清晰可见。抬
头看到圆月和迷人的月晕，才想起来马上就是元宵了。据说这是五十年来最圆的月亮，
洒满月光的停车场，空无一人，环顾周围一切都是冰雕玉砌，银装素裹，我们当时只穿
了fleece, 也忘了当时冷不冷，只是看雪看得发呆。

叫过。在Echo Mountain能够清晰的看到inspiration point的亭子，你看，就是
那个：
你说的亭子是这个么？同一份景，换一个角度就有截然不同的样子。同一件事情，在不
同的眼中有不同的含义。高度不同，看到的景色不同，对风景的理解自然不同。
所谓境界。群山起伏，啤酒清凉，牛肉飘香，遗憾的是相机无法记录高山流水的筝鸣。
然而境界是要付出代价的。比如今天，你需要走14英里的山路，你需要攀登3800英尺的
高度，你还需要在疲乏之余有闲情逸致款款欣赏。
雾霭重重，肮脏世间
何不寄情山野，天高云淡？

most difficult route is going up North Ridge of Iron Mountain, I don't know
if this is the route that Pifu was on two years ago.

发帖数: 2672 | 37 Thanks, I was thinking whether or not to add Inspiration Point, I decided to add it since it will avoid all the crowed going to Echo Mountain in addition to a better work out. From Inspiration point
there's an option of taking the fire road back to the car which is a bonus ;)
I like the night view with the quiet and peacefulness of the mountain, the trail up is pretty established and I am familiar with the terrain, so the reward is much greater than the risks.

Took the firebreak and connect the Mt Lowe road to Inspiration Point and
came back down on Castle Canyon to Echo Mountain.
It was cold and windy, but having the whole mountain by myself is priceless.

still try our best to make it back to Twin Peaks before sun sets (once you
are back to Twin Peaks there is trail)
The good news is that as the ridge get closer to Twin Peaks, it is in better
condition and less scrambling and climbing involved.
The bad news is I don't know how long it will us take to do the last part
where I turned back where you must drop down to a gully then scramble up.

请问这条路的最高处就是下面这个链接里的第一张照片吧？

它是在整条路的什么位置？中间？西边还是东边？
Brockway Mountain Drive 和26号公路有一部分重合，另外一部分和26号大体平行。风
景好的应该适合26号大体平行的那一部分吧？和26号重合的那一部分有什么要看的吗？

talked to a few MMs and one GG privately and they all expressed serious
interest in going.
Bald mountain is located near Lake Orion, 12 miles north of Troy. I heard it
is a good place for hiking and paddling.
We plan to go there at around 10-11AM. If you are interested, pls reply to
this post. Should you have any suggestions or recommendations, pls also feel
free to let me know. |

发帖数: 2636 | 50 看了一下，Balk Mountain的hiking trail和Mountain Bike trail是在一起的，不是很
安全。Michigan很多的trail都是hiker和biker共用的，这种trail我只bike过，大家
biking速度都很快，弯又多，冷不丁出来个hiker还是有时会躲闪不及的。总的来说
Michigan下半岛就没什么山，溜溜弯还可以，走9 mi会比较boring
