头一次他们夫妻说是来自moldova，我整个没反应过来。
不是故意失礼，是确实不知道这个国家。
后来查一查，原来是前苏联一个极小的加盟共和国。
这夫妻俩看着就是高加索人，但是极其的谦虚，看来出身有很大影响。
其实见过一些其他前苏联各个加盟共和国的人，
都非常谦虚，实在，对中国有认同感。
其实对于moldova这样的小地方，真是不如呆在苏联里面。

moldova原来是罗马利亚的，二战罗马利亚在德国一边，战后，划给前苏联
前苏联崩溃时，独立。
但是其中一些俄罗斯人为主的地区，又从moldova独立出来，回到俄罗斯，可是这些地
区又不和俄罗斯相连，被乌克兰隔开了。 |

要看民主与法制的总体趋势，
把所有国家的democracy index和corruption index
做个相关性统计不就行了。
从两个列表中取国家地区的共同部分，共163个。
算出来的相关系数是0.7，高度相关。

随手找了一个世行的数据，是1960-1976年的。你也可以找出联合国的数据，用1950年
的数据替代1960年，结果一定是一样的，那就是中国人口增长人数最多。

俄罗斯总统普京（Vladimir Putin）致电美国总统奥巴马，并同意就华盛顿的建议举行
会谈。美国和俄罗斯或将讨论用外交途径解决乌克兰危机。不过前题是俄罗斯不进一步
侵犯乌克兰主权。
据英国《金融时报》报导，在数以万计的俄罗斯军队集结于乌克兰边境之际，奥巴马告
诉普京“只有当莫斯科撤回部队，而且不进一步侵犯乌克兰的领土完整及主权，”他才
会支持通过外交途径解决该危机。当时，奥巴马正在前往沙特（Saudi Arabia，又译沙
乌地阿拉伯）的途中。
白宫表示，两国总统同意美国国务卿克里（John Kerry）和俄罗斯外长拉夫罗夫（
Sergei Lavrov）将会面“商讨下一步骤”。
奥巴马表示美国已将一份书面建议交予俄罗斯，并要求普京做出“具体回应”。两国总
统的通话共持续一小时。
俄罗斯方面的电话会议摘要证实了克里-拉夫罗夫会谈，但未指明时间或地点。

To be sure, many aspects of the old USSR have been happily consigned to
oblivion. Among them:
•The communist ideology: the Communist Party no longer has a monopoly
on power.
•The bloc mentality: the Warsaw Pact evaporated, leaving NATO behind
as the one hand clapping. The new system is a multipolar one.
•Central planning: replaced with a market economy
