Date: 4/1/08
7:00am: I crossed the border, took the cab, paid at the bank
9:30am Line up in front of US Ambassy. Took 20 minutes to get to the infor
window.
10:00am Took picture, fingerprints.
10:15am Waiting for interview. I check the line and I am the 7th person. Seem good but here the nightmare started.

1: does dollar work there? do i need to exchange to mexico currency? to

I bring cash or credit card?
It seems from previous posts that dollar works well in TJ
2: it seems we can only get visa the next day. which hotel is good and
convenient and safe?
3: is it safe to drive my own car to TJ? is it advisable to take Taxi?
If you dont have a Mexican visa, you d better walk through the border in
order to avoid inspecting.

TJ, specially to lijiantimo. Below is my experience.
Driving and parking
6点起床，7点出发，9点到SD，在World Duty Free (UETA免税店)的Parking停好车（8$
/24hours, 619-662-2028, 5775 Camiones Way, San Diego, CA 92173-3127）。24小
时有人门口收费，比较正规，也不怕被拖。停车场离border步行距离大概5分钟。
过关，交钱，存包
从World Duty Free出来，沿着铁栅栏走路过境。在美国境内由于包比较大被拦住检查
。过境的时候不少墨西哥security，但是完全没有人查。看到了旋转铁门，单向的，然
后过了单向门，往前共过了2个铁门，出去后就到了mexico了。
走出铁栅栏，叫了辆黄色Taxi,到Banamex，5刀加一刀小费。Banamex 9点开门， 付了

飞机票价是400多，居然比去圣地亚哥的直飞还便宜些。
美国签证stamp要是过期的话飞墨西哥城市要墨西哥签证，不过非常简单: 先跟去其
它地方签证的程序一样，网上填160，交$150，预约ASC和签证时间，打印出预约单
子， 然后俺就是去领事馆拿个申请，不用预约，填好，带上公司证明，在墨西哥城
的预约，其它就是pay check, 美国签证的材料，照片等等，去领事馆交$36，人家
就一边照相，指纹，一边给签了 (怀疑材料都没看全)，耗时30分钟。
然后订机票和酒店，酒店就订在使馆旁边的 Sheraton Maria Isabel, 就是在市中
心的天使塑像旁。酒店跟使馆挨着，到ASC也就是过马路走5分钟的，太方便了。就
是贵些，$157一晚。
俺ASC预约的是周一下午17:20，最后的时段，然后周一早上10点半的飞机，两个小
时就到了，也比圣地亚哥要近很多。墨西哥城是中部时间，到了机场打车是280比索，

0. 网上预约面签，先在Salvador的宾馆预约酒店，然后Salvador帮忙预付签证费（签
证费必须在当地银行支付）
提前一天到达，Salvador先生来Brownsvile接我们，然后过边境线，拿通行证，30刀
第一天9:00按指纹和拍照，Salvador先生会提前从酒店大堂出发送我们去相应地点
第二天面签，Salvador先生会带我们去相应地点，然后上午排队面签，下午3点
Salvador先生送我们去取护照，并送我们先盖墨西哥stamp，然后去边界线
自己过大桥然后入美国边境
我没有被check，并且拿到了5年F1签证，很开心。虽然面试官问了我很多问题，而且最
后要走了我几乎所有材料，已经做等check了，却approve并且给了5年，感谢Salvador

Still in the same school(major: mechanical) and visa as came to US.
Have been back China almost two years ago.
He is thinking about going to Canada or Mexico to renew the visa. What's the
possibility of getting security check?
If so, is he going to stay in Canada? Or have to go to China? Can he wait back
