昨天8点半全组meeting,狗日的让大家提意见,一个工作了20年的资深technician说,
engineer招了好几个,我们干活的technician就俩,能不能多招几个technician
你猜狗日的怎么说?狗日的说I agree with you, but the question is...意思就是
technician活太多干不完,可以找engineer干,真新鲜了,难道engineer活干不完,可以找
你或者找CEO干么

我在香港一所大学任教，这是我们系开的一个每年例行师生沟通会，我没参加，突然发
现meeting minutes里面的一段让我震惊，我拍下了，请大家看一下，中间谈到
mainland China的那段。
请问，这种写在正式文件里的话，在美国会视为如何情况？我不知道在香港这事可以怎
样应对，但是我感到应该做点什么，虽然不一定我自己做。
另，我们大陆教授的平均口语水平并不比local的差多少，如果不是还反而没有香港口
音的话。而且这是直接印在meeting minutes里，后面的feedback and action 写的是
会通知相应教师，也就是说认同了这一说法了。在美国真的可以针对某一无差别特定人
群下个结论吗，比如说“我们系黑人学生学习都差”？ |

从来没做过这个，要求在家里审10几个proposal之后要去DC开两天会：
For about 3 of your assigned proposals, you will be the
designated “Rapporteur”. As Rapporteur, you will lead the meeting
discussion for the 3 proposals, take notes, and write a post-discussion
summary on a Peer Review Results Form which must be completed before the
end of the meeting.
版上有去审过EPA的这种proposal吗？不知道自己的English是否能胜任这种face-to-
face discussion和实时做讨论笔录。

建议找系里人多的时候跟他见面，然后事先跟一个同事打个招呼，11点meet的话让同事
11点零三零四过来看看，一方面可以借机把他打发了，另一方面也是确保安全。
我们系女教授多，碰上比较unreasonable的学生经常让我去她们门口给壮壮胆。 |

可能换project,怕committee的人有concern.他认为committee meeting没有什么用。老
板让我把progress report写好，再找committee同意签字就行。
老板对我还算不错，先后两次花3000多送我去学习两项很有用的技术training.但是他
很有power（grant和文章系里的其他人都没法比）,所以系里的话一般都不听，喜欢我
行我素。我qualify之后就没做proposal的课题，而是做另一片一作文章，和别人合作
（文章已发TOP的杂志）。老板说我现在thesis什么都没有，所以要完成一个thesis才
能毕业。
我不想惹他不高兴，但是又不想让committee的人觉得不受重视。我如果可以挨个找
committee的人私下谈谈我的进展和老板的意思，让他们理解一下。他们会高兴的同意
暂时不开committee meeting 吗？这个版上faculty很多，你们有什么意见吗？还有一
个多月就是deadline了，我真的很着急。 |

先说说背景，入职一年半的新码工，组里大约十六七人，老板老印，除了另外一个近50
的中国人和两个白人，都是老印。开始入职以来，老印老板没找人带我，只给我两个小
project，基本是maintenance。写的代码不多，全靠自己学习琢磨，我也挺努力，这两
个project学得还行，写的代码没出什么事，客人偶尔有好评，无差评。除此之外，其
他时间自己就努力学习。就但一年多来，没人指导，自己技术提高不多，眼界有限。给
老板提了不下20次，找人带我。他先后找了那个中国人和另外一个老印带我一个月左右
。那个中国人，脾气比较差，问题稍微问多一些，就大声吼回来：I do not have time
for your questions. 然后就闷声不说话，也不搭理我。他愿意答问题的时候，也是

就是他们写一些workflow和mockup，让我让我照着做。问题是这些文档都是没有软件开
发经验的人写的，反正基本上我只是有个概念而已，很多都是不合理的，我有问题就去
问。因为项目比较多，开发任务比较重。但我经理以不要浪费我的宝贵时间为理由，从
来不让我参加用户的meeting，或者做demo的事情。结果造成我在那边的visibilty 很
低。
因为某些原因，我经理的calendar是公开的，我最近一段时间注意了一下，所有跟我说
做的有关的项目的meeting，他都是带着一个junior 的人去，然后让他来告诉我要做什
么。这样变成了我要全心全意的赶快把事情做完了，却没有一点其他发展的机会了。
怎么要求跟老板说我要求参加这些meeting，我不愿听从一个junior 的人来指挥我。 |

1。学区采用委员会制度，每个board member都是通过民间选举上任的。Poway学区有五
个委员。有关财政支出预算，工程发包，学区建设，发行债券等重大议题都通过公开会
议中投票表决。这个制度一方面公开透明，方便公众监督。另一方面，在公众不参与的
情况下，无人监督，由于没有上级领导对下监控，很容易造成腐败和政策错误。这是委
员会制度的双刃剑。
所以，我的体会是越是公众参与程度高的学区，质量越好，费用支出越合理，腐败
越少。越是公众参与程度低的学区, 越容易出现经费滥用，教育质量低劣而不受重视，
superintendent出奇高的薪水。 我觉得poway学区公众参与度不高，我参加的这次会
议，旁听者一大半是跟board有关系的人和组织，而独立出席的家长，真的是没几个。
我们知道，poway superintendent的工资是出奇高的。而且去年board meeting稀里糊
涂的通过了一个被加州主计长痛陈为美国历史上最毒的毒债券。这正是poway学区缺乏
公众监督的表现！

发帖数: 8291 | 47 这个家长确实有扰乱board meeting秩序。警察只是请他出场，
跟逮捕毫不相关吧。
这本书绝对不应该出现在推荐书目里。这个家长有非常valid point.
但是在美国的斗争方式，不是以当场吵架为有效方式的。这个家长需要联合其他家长，
一起提出complain, 在board规定的时间里参加发言。多几个家长联合complain,这本书
很快就会被移出书目。
希望大家对school district和board meeting的运作有所了解，
按照游戏规则积极参与。

发帖数: 1113 | 49 今天下午全程参与了Cupertino Council member meeting，从最开始，cupetino 的市
长 Gilbert Wong (此人是不是民主党？)就搅混水说John A. Pérez已经withdraw了
SCA 5，问是不是应该把这个特殊meeting的SCA 5议题拿掉？ 2个白人counciler回应说
： 目标已经没有了，还讨论什么？
Barry Chang，马上站住来，hold住说： 我读到的Perez 的statement是"H A L T",发
音是halt，哪里有withdraws的字眼？请继续讨论议题！
从整个会议的来，Barry的态度明确，purely stand for 华裔 （甚至可能给人有bias
的感觉）. 他够strong，够tough，hold his stand。我个人很喜欢Barry, 感觉他的
tough其实就是我们华裔在现阶段急需的leadership，而不是那些骑墙派的摇摆。
哪位知道的来说说，Cupertino市长是不是民主党人啊，他和Barry好像不是很对。可以

标 题: 年末给老印老板评了low meet expectation,姐妹们给些意见，尤其是微软

先说说背景，入职一年半的新码工，组里大约十六七人，老板老印，除了另外一个近50
的中国人和两个白人，都是老印。开始入职以来，老印老板没找人带我，只给我两个小
project，基本是maintenance。写的代码不多，全靠自己学习琢磨，我也挺努力，这两
个project学得还行，写的代码没出什么事，客人偶尔有好评，无差评。除此之外，其
他时间自己就努力学习。就但一年多来，没人指导，自己技术提高不多，眼界有限。给
老板提了不下20次，找人带我。他先后找了那个中国人和另外一个老印带我一个月左右
。那个中国人，脾气比较差，问题稍微问多一些，就大声吼回来：I do not have time
for your questions. 然后就闷声不说话，也不搭理我。他愿意答问题的时候，也是
