I picked up the trilogy on a dealer's table. The big attraction was the
title of the second novel, Beyond the Blue Event Horizon. Since all three
books were there I bought them all. The others were Gateway, and Heechee
Rendezvous. When I was halfway through the third book I noticed in a shop

Tim Powers at the Worldcon in San Antonio. He said, if memory serves
correctly, that he had managed to include references to his two previous
books, Last Call and Expiration Date, in Earthquake weather. This is an
understatement on the level of "Yes, Lazarus is feeling a bit better now."

大概是这样:唐.派普牧师是美国几个教会的负责人,有一个温馨的家庭,一个女儿和
一对双胞胎儿子.在一场意外的车祸中确认唐已经死亡90分钟,他跨越生死边界去到了天
堂,(我知道很多人看了都以为有点颠)天堂的美丽与喜乐是如此真实,他看见了先而他去
的亲人们.然后他又回到了人间饱受重度伤残无尽的煎熬,自怜、痛苦、忧郁、灰心。剧
痛使得他无数次祷告上帝让他回天家,因为看见过天堂的人真的不想回来,那里比世界上
的一切都真实.这个剧烈的经历改变了他和所有知道这件事情的人. 让他更加清晰生命
