Don't you think in most of time,(especially when people are discussing hot
economic issues like crisis), non-economists' ideas are still from magzines,
news report, which are writen by economists? In this sense they don't make
much contribution to the pool of ideas.
Economists should care non-economists' ideas only when they are highly
relevant. For example, if an economist is going to do research on medical
insurance, definitely he'd communicate with doctors and patients. However,

新的东西在工业界的应用前景不明朗，可以理解，但是不代表这个方向不好。FFT这个
东西是数学技巧吧，但是它的出现的意义可不仅仅就是一种数学技巧...
Biomedical Image也有很多方向，有Ultrasound, MRI, CT, PET之类，有关注算法本身
的，也有关注医疗器械的，也有关注医学实验的，侧重点不同，我觉得不能一概而论。

来龙去脉是这样的：
早期讨论发magzine还是发journal的时候，有一个重要的问题是出版方不能是商业机构。
如果以出版方是商业机构，不仅导致未来支付巨额的版权费，而且会导致学术不自由，
被出版社甚至出版社背后的公司牵着鼻子走。
所以商业机构出版的都称为commercial magazine，读者是面向大众，以盈利为目的，
编辑说了算。哪个时候commercial＝magazine＝非同行评议
而最早的journal全是非盈利机构出版的，没人想从这上面赚钱，那个时候也赚不到什
么钱，因为读者群很窄，不亏本就不错了。所以早期 非盈利＝journal＝同行评议.
但是现在的nature 子刊和journal是一样的风格，也有同行评议，除了出版社要靠这个
赚钱以外。甚至更厉害的它可以不赚钱，风格和journal一样，也有同行评议，但是它
为某些大公司服务。编辑先把不符合某些公司利益的文章直接据了，剩下再同行评议。

facts objectively.
1. ipad and kindle actually belong to different product categories.
2. ipad can be used majorly for reading books, browsing internet, watching
movies, playing some games; kindle, on the other hand, can only be used to
read books that when changing font size will not affect the book format (So
it's not good for magzines, pdf files). The so claimed internet browsing on
kindle is really painful to use.
