1.3-day is too tight for this trip. Road safety is a big concern.
2. it is too far and the peak color is hard to catch (usually the forecast
only accurate in one week)
3. Weather may be concern. Snow may be rare but possible. Rain and overcast
is the major issue.
4. If you really want to check the realtime color, go find some online
webcam.
5. You can find very beautiful lookout spots in north MN. The foliage is
equally impressive, especially near Lusten/Tofte, Cascade River SP, |

I went somewhere between Silver Bay and Lusten to watch fall color last year
. It was gorgeous, and I join dollyparton in recommending North Shore of
Superior Lake for this season. But this year, I want a change and expect
some people to join my adventure to Upper Michigan.
Considering the volatile weather and color, I’ll delay reservation until 5-
7 days before departure when the weather and color is more foreseeable.

drive along ski hill rd, lusten resort, there is a gondola, 13.5 dollars
round trip, will take you to moose mountain.
another good spot is, drive uphill along onion river rd, and walk the oberg
mountain hiking trail. it is a loop, 2.3 miles. |

发帖数: 684 | 8 ONION RIVER RD開車上去，到了停車場趴好車，走一圈obreg mtn loop，2.3個邁。風
景無限。不過基本靠走~
SKI HILL RD開車上去，到了索道站，13.5刀一個人往返票，是只有窗戶能打開的包廂
式索道，上到MOOSE MTN，風景也不錯，應該可以帶娃上去。
這兩個都在LUSTEN。
還有TOFTE那裡的CO RD 2，也叫SAWBILL TRAIL，開車下去，砂石路走一段，左手邊有
個小橋，立牌maple leaf drive，開車走一趟，絕對不後悔。那條DRIVE在GOOGLE MAP
上貌似標號166，開到與346的交界就可以UTURN往回走，沿著343開回61上。
GRAND MARIAS那邊GUNFLINT TRAIL走過一趟，感覺一般，尤其是到後面，被大火燎過的
地方，全是死樹，就只有小樹苗還有生命，風景蠻突兀的。 |

I would say Lusten is the best choice if I go this winter.
Been there couple of times in other seasons.
Closer one, I would say wild mountain, it is near Taylor Falls, by the St.
croix valley. |
