1. You always need a mandatory LOR from your prior residency program
director. She or he will have a dilemma, in which a good letter may
contradict the kicked out resident's behavior and his/her integrity. Her or
his bad LOR of course will kill the application.
2. You, as the resident, have to make a well justified reason to convince
prospective PD that you leave not because of performance/personality/
teamwork issues. Specialty change is the best in my |

发帖数: 108 | 4 From my reading of ECFMG website, it seems that it will be us (IMGs)who send
the transcript and the MSPE to them for scanning. For the LoR, if you waive
the right of viewing it, you can ask the writer to send it directly to
ECFMG. Otherwise, you can also send it by yourself.You should include a
Document Submission Form (DSF) for any document sent to ECFMG by yourself or
via your LoR writer.

There is no requirement for LoR from each previous employment or training
program.
Most programs only need 3 LoRs. Use the letters from people who know you
well and you feel comfortable with. |

两个科吗？
cover letter上的内容 PD 能看到吗？
此外，我的LOR都是让推荐人直接寄到ERAS,所以内容无从知晓，这样是不是比较risky
？有经验的过来人能否指点一下怎么保证LOR是非常supportive的？

Are you applying Cal programs? Can I ask another q you may know the answer?
Did you mail a copy of the receiving letter from Cal board as one of the
LoRs? My application is in progress so the receiving letter is the only
evidence that I have.

not want me to get in the program, as a result, according what he said, the
PC wrote the LOR with something, like improve communication et al. I would
not use LOR, feel upset though. Just let you guys know, be careful when meet
people from Taiwan. They are not nice and friend to us. Not prejudice but
that is the fact. |

used for initial screening by PCs.
PDs can setup what they think constitutes a "complete" application. Only the
completed applications will be passed to the committee for review. For
examples,
PD #1 requires: CAF, Step 1 score, Step 2 CK score, Step 2 CS P/F, at least
1 LOR, personal statement
PD #2 requires: CAF, Step 1 score, Step 2 CK score, Step 2 CS P/F, Step 3

a new slot (as you suggested), whether I should inform ERAS via email that
this is a new LoR that comes from the same recommender who also wrote me the
old letter. I am a little worried that ERAS people may get confused that
the two LoRs are from the same recommender with slightly different content,

will use. You have two options:
1) Send in the new version with a notes to instruct ECFMG for a replacement,
but use the original LoR slot.
2) Reserve a new slot and add something like "Dr. XXX 8/12/2010 letter" in
the author name so you'll not get confused with the old slot. Instruct ECFMG
to attach the new LoR to the right place. |

my vague impression, I used to track on the arrival of the LORs (as well as
other documents) at ECFMG ERAS support service and scanning of the documents
to the AAMC ERAS everyday. They always scan the documents in the order of
arriving. That's how I found out they accidentally scanned my PTAL to a
wrong spot of a regular LOR at AAMC ERAS (I know, this is scary and happens rarely, but I was lucky to have been tracking and |

complete" for pretty much all programs. Programs will download your 4th
letter when the letter becomes available.
If you think the 4th letter is critical for you application, you may wait
for that to avoid the situation that a program may make a decision based on

- The earlier the better. Late October is considered "too late" for most

2. I did obervership in pathology and Oncology department at the same
institute and I put these experience as volunteer experience in my CV. I

I should make it clear:
For each application there is only one PS, one photo and one Profile. If you
update your Profile, photo, or reassign a PS, PDs only can view the new
version, although all files (old or new) are downloaded. In fact, PDs won't
be able to see your photo until he or she selects you for interview.
There are multiple LoRs. If you de-assign and reassign a LoR the old file
will be marked as "inactive" in PD's workstation. Only the new v |

要是多一些向老刀这样的CMG， 我们做OB,拿LoR的机会就会很不一样。
版上不是每个同志都有好的connection, 很容易拿到strong LoR。 很多情况下
connection 比分数重要多了。
当然了，我们弄控制的就是分数了，别的很难说的。这样的情况下，要是每个地方都有
些像老刀或者zitao这样的CMG能提携一下，情况是很不一样的。
多做实事，少议论别人比别的都重要多了。 |

一天，6个医生。早上10点左右开始。一个2年级的fellow先带着逛一圈，介绍以后工作
的一些重要地点。然后向我介绍program里每个人的特点，总的是想给我吃颗定心丸，
我当时特别紧张。tour之后，我真的放松了不少。
面试开始。第一位是program director,面试1小时。问题从我的背景着手，就我的PS一
一展开，问我为什么想做peds rheum, 为什么要到这个program。
感觉上，当我告诉她我的family也在这个地区，她看着挺高兴的。
然后又聊到research。我的research背景比较临床，做过一些case report, chart
review, 在国内有过一个与peds rheum有关的随访课题，所以有很多可以聊。
然后又聊到家庭。她告诉我program是 family friendly的。
之后的面试都是半小时。中间穿插午餐，只有fellow来，一位即将留校担任主治的
fellow讲了不少她自己的经历，午餐很放松。最后两位面试者都是以实验室科研为主的
，有一位已经有了以她命名的实验室。我对自己缺乏实验室背景直言不讳，但是表示如

1.Dr.A: 坚持做OB 直到match结果出来。
2.Dr。B：坚持跟没有match上的program联系。最后match上的就是去年没有match上的
其中一个。去纽约面试，当得知另一个纽约的program有人cancel面试，马上去；尽管
面试的人很mean，也保持情绪。
3.PS：不好说能加几分，最好别减分。
4.OB：最重要是拿好的lor，不是hands on experience。有的pd 对这些ob和
extenship有偏见，不太count on these experience。如果做了一段时间觉得不能拿好
的lor，建议时间允许，再做一个其他的。
5.让pd看到你为回到临床，为熟悉美国的医疗系统作了那些努力。在新的progrm开始时
可以很快catchup。
6.竞争最激烈的: 内科，因为只要是医学生，但凡申请的，即使是放射科，基本也会把
它作为backup。精神，儿科，妇产科好点儿。 妇产科有的program 十几个人，只有一
个男的，很想要男生去干重活。所以男的img 有优势。
7.有phd可以申病理。

project,他对我很了解，而且我sure他会给我很好的LOR. 但是他不是明正言顺的
advisor, 前辈们给点建议吧。这样去面试，我说他是我co-advisor, 我和他一起做课
题，大老板太忙，没时间管我，对我不了解，把我包给小faculty了可以吗？

是这样的，cover letter上你可以指明这封信用于什么科目。LOR寄到ECFMG，扫描上以
后，就可以在你的帐号下面看到。每申请一个医院，你都可以选择你希望对方看到的

the limits of the institution. Abide by these limits. There is nothing
worse than me reading a note in the chart from someone who I know is an
observer. I have to inform the attending that the observer cannot see or
chart on patients. The note has to be removed and sometimes risk management

发帖数: 834 | 45 刚看到内科组里有同学把不同学科的LoR上错了。 趁这两天还在放假，很多program都
还没有下载材料，大家有空可以再检查一下，有没有漏的，错的。
我目前找到的办法是检查各个文件的assignments。 我自己前两天上载的时候，就把内
科的ps上到两个精神科的program去了，还有两个内科program忘了送USMLE transcript
,汗，后来是查这个查出来的。 办法如下：
1. 登录ERAS后，点击第一排的第三个按钮，就是“documents”
2. 点击“usmle transcript”,在右上角会出现一个蓝色的“assignments”，点进去
看看到底送了多少份，和你申请的program数目是否一致。
3. 接着检查personal statement,方法同上，申请多个学科的同学做一个简单的加法，
看看各个PS加起来的总数是不是和申请的program数一致。还有比如我申50个精神科，
却只送了48个精神科的PS，那肯定出错了，赶紧一个program一个program的仔细查。
4. LoR方法同上。

* Written verification, with an evaluation of your performance, for any
clinical training obtained in United States Hospitals for which you received
educational credits.
估计这可能是给US 医学生准备的. 但自己也不想空手而去. 本人没做过externship, 只
做了OB. 申请时,OB的attendings 都给了LoR. 现在应该咋办呢? 请OB的医生再写个
verification letter or copy 原来的LoR 带去? 大家遇见过同样的经历吗? 或者可以
给些 ideas 吗?
