个24岁的无业黑人青年Fonseca的话说，“（对亚裔店铺的抢劫），是报应，你可以这
么说。”Fonseca长得高大，肌肉健壮，他还说抢劫者有充分的理由那么做（he says
the looters were justified）。真是强盗的逻辑啊！
Fonseca抱怨，他们的社区很穷，工作机会很少。即使很少的商业，也都被亚裔把持。

电视台都在放天气预报。我是没有留意电视画面上的颜色，如果当时知道我家所在的地
区所被覆盖的红色是代表五级飓风的话，我肯定要带上家人往西跑了。可见有时候糊涂
一点也是有好处的。
星期四早上起床再看电视，才知道这个Rita可能会造成多大的破坏。当时想，那就带上
朋友两口子往San Antonio跑吧，走出家门看了一下，小区外的通I-10的路已经被车子
堵满了，整一个parking lot,我想好吧，我也不走了，把家里的窗户都用胶布沾对角线
吧，把两个浴缸都装满水，把手电筒和蜡烛火柴都准备好，又用freezer制了很多冰，
到grocery store买了很多面包（瓶装水当时已经被抢购一空了）。这些事情都做好了
，我就没事干了，带着女儿在小区转了一圈，看看邻居们如何。
有一家门口竖了块牌子，上书："Looters will be shot".
