the documentation really sucks.
I am trying to use its image library, however, facing two challenges now
1. like to associate a folder/subfolder to a category and tag. It seems I
can only do it at image file level.
2. like to add the approval workflow for the submission of image files. Out
of box workflow support Document Library, but not image library.

在的工作就是做的server side apps, 感觉很无聊。上一份工作，因为公司当过jboss
和liferay
的sponsor, 写过几年的jboss AS和liferay portlet container, 还是挺challenging
，也
挺有意思的。至于swing, 我感觉swing position几乎都消失了（也可能是经验不match
猎头不找
我）。我在纽约，感觉除了少数的product company, 大部分core java的职位都是在银
行里做
trading system的（其实就是自己写的一个server），客户端好像用c#的更多。 |

发帖数: 684 | 5 JBoss portal server, richfaces, resteasy, 之前的seam, 等等都有很强的竞争对手
. 不会让人感觉非他莫属。相反后台Drools包括rule engine和jbpm, Hibernate, 用过
就会喜欢上。对比IBM和Oracle的类似产品，更加developer friendly。
举个例子吧，JSF的RIA libs，我试过richfaces, icefaces, primefaces. 现在用
primefaces. Portal server用过jboss和liferay, liferay高出很多，大部分人用
Spring不用seam, 但是rule engine我用了Drools之后，完全没有了看其他产品的欲望。 |

发帖数: 1657 | 6 现在工作中维护一个Portal，平台是Java+Jboss，数据库是oracle和cassandra，
framework是开源的liferay(基于spring, hibernate的一个portal开发框架)。整个
portal除了对user,account,role,permission等等有insert/delete/update操作，其他
的都是纯读操作。
现在user大概有几万个，account大概有几千个，permission大概有上百个，现在运行
起来难度不大，唯一的performance问题就是用户登录的时候查询时间有点长，因为这
个authentication的机制当时设计的时候有点复杂，一个account可以有多个role，一
个user也可以有多个role，role可以组成role group，每个role对应一些permission，
permission在liferay内部还要join几个表来查询显示的portlet，所以登录时间经常在
十几秒钟，请问有什么办法能在不重新设计认证机制的条件下提高performance吗？据

案：
比如说买书花了600美金，这个数字输入系统；然后收据里每一本书多少钱之类的就不
输入了，但是要把收据的清晰照片或者扫描版本放到网上，以备查看。
另外还可以做一个类似wiki的系统，让有心人来帮忙输入所有收据 -- 这样，如果有些
人愿意短期帮忙，就不需要通过OCEF的义工申请，随时可以动手了。WIKI的精神就是大
家一起来维护，如果有输入错误，别人可以指出；这些更改记录都保存在案，需要的话
，可以用来奖励某些优秀的维护者或者取消某些ID的维护资格。

versions cover different things: devel guide is present in 4.2 but not in 5

the books written on this look like those books we wrote for profit during
college.
but it does look nice (better looking than Jetspeed2), so we have to use it
anybody has some good documentation on this?
particularly I found that you could do StrutsPortlet , and same example
plugins use MVCPortlet, but no docs mention these.

websearch "spring MVC tutorial" + try on liferay/maven2 will get you
started sooner.
better yet, search "spring portlet google code sample " , following the

development is pure java. I guess this is what LZ means. portlet itself as
concept is pure java as some said, jsr168 268, put in development you use
javascript and other stuff. with vaadin, you dont, you just use java.
I am not sure I am clear, but you would understand if you know about
webframeworks a bit. |

Play, JQuery(not java, but almost a must if you want to be web developer),
AOP(you need to know). restlet(if you want to do rest API development)
basically, web mvc, persistence, web service. Spring is a must, but you dont
start from spring. You can start from spring mvc, then connect to database
with JDBC, then you learn hibernate/JPA, then use spring to enhance what you
