地点在六旗附近的空军基地。 免费。不但有飞机表演还会有不少飞机停在地上供大家
近距离欣赏。

上回文章的主角Roy Williams在给北卡罗来那大学（University of North Carolina, 简
称UNC）的老教练Dean Smith当了10年助理教练后，于1988年来到了美国的中部美丽的城
市Lawrence执教中部强队堪萨斯大学(University of Kansas，以下简称UK)。我们的新教
练围着这个大学看了一圈，觉的地方的确不错，买房子买车，安家落户了，暂时不想UNC
的烦人官司了，呵呵
UK虽然比不上杜克和UNC大学那么高贵有名望，但也是一个很好的大学，校园非常漂亮。
大家玩过Warcraft II 吗？学校的建筑就有点像里面魔阵营的建筑。UK体育的标志是一只
可爱的小鹰Jayhawk，脑袋大大的，穿着蓝色的衣服，蓝色和白色是UK的学校颜色。
UK其实也有比较辉煌的篮球历史，一共2次获得NCAA的冠军，分别在1952年和1988年。Roy
Williams于7月正式出任主教练，学校在4月刚刚在教练Larry Brown的带领下获得了总冠

LAWRENCE, Kan. - An NCAA men's basketball national championship and a FedEx
Orange Bowl victory have contributed to making Lawrence, Kan., one of 20
finalists for the designation of ESPN's "TitleTown USA." As part of the
process, ESPN will tape a segment featuring Lawrence and the Jayhawks at 9 a
.m. this Friday, June 27, at Allen Fieldhouse.

发帖数: 31446 | 40 对了，我记得你是北卡的球迷吧？话说，Roy到了北卡很快就夺冠了哈，老实说，当时
俺这个KU Roy时代的球迷心里还着实酸了一把，心说，马里兰！在KU熬了十三年没给我
们拿到冠军，这一回老家，立马夺冠。。。不过还好，08年的时候，半决赛和Roy的北
卡不期而遇，到现在，我还特“自作多情”地认为，那场比赛是Roy送给KU的一份大礼
（毕竟他头一两年已经夺了处女冠军）。尤其是后来的决赛，Roy也出现在现场，并在
西服前胸位置醒目地戴着Jayhawk的小贴纸，更是令俺和许多KU的老球迷感动。。。
还是那句话，KU和北卡的篮球有着千丝万缕的血缘关系，谁夺冠我都挺高兴的。还有，
依旧期待Roy能有一天带领北卡重回Allen Field House，我相信届时肯定会有很多KU的
老球迷为他起立致敬并鼓掌的，起码我会。。。 |

发帖数: 31446 | 48 又查了一下，大部分的解释是，其实KU和UK这两个名字毫无关联。我们是在19世纪晚期
开始出现KU这个称呼，包括在美国大学里最早最著名的那首校歌里“Rock,Chalk,
Jayhawk! Go KU!". 一种解释是KU在音律上比UK更上口些。所以，KU这个称呼从那时候
就开始了。另外一个不是很官方的解释是说美国中部的大学很多都习惯于用这样的排列
，比如CU、MU（Mizzu）、NU、OU，都是把州名放在前面。
底下有一个相片，是当年Rupp带着Kentucky到Allen Field House打球的时候，他和他
的导师Forrest“Phog” Allen拍的。注意看篮球上的字，还是“KU vs KU", 证明起码
到50年代的时候，肯塔基也是称自己为KU的。
我说的注册，是KU对那首校歌的注册，那个注册是美国最早的关于校歌的注册，而那首
歌里，就已经带有KU了。
当然了，关于这两个称呼没有一个所谓的官方解释，都是约定俗成的东西。其实这种大
学的简称基本只用在体育运动中，学术上要是这么写，估计要被导师给毙掉。KU的篮球
历史最早，所以这个称呼也流传的比较早且广泛。 |
