It is painful to download large JS files to client side too. When we rely on

I need to do some dynamic type checking with javascript by this. It works
well with Netscape but doesn't work in IE.
The error message is like "the object doesn't have such property or method".
I think it's the problem of eval(). Cuase the errors disappear if I use
vtype = document.query_viewtable.fieldtype1.value;

based on the user's input. But don't know how to do it.
For example:
Given a form which shows only one text field plus a submit button,
after the user enters a number(say, 6), the form then changes to show 6 text
fields, and the original text filed disappeared.
I saw similiar effects before on some website, but forget where they are.
Could anyone here give me some help? Thanx!

1, you should use 01.jpg for default rather than
the 01_over.jpg because when the page is loaded
the mouse is likely not over the pictures.
2, the way your javascript accessing the object(picture)
document["bot"] should be avoided: not standard and only
works on cerain browsers. you should use getElementById()
for DOM browsers (NN6, IE5+), document.all for IE4+;
document.layers for NN4.
3, get a better tutorial. don't read this one any more.

I finished the code for the slide show using Javascript. But I found a big
problem. Whenever the slide changes, the computer needs to load the next
picture again. Why the pictures are not saved in the user's computer after
after the first time they are showed? Is it possible to preload all the slides
in the computers at the beginning so that the system needn't to load the same
slide again and again. Thank you very much.

yes, you can use perl to generate whatever document you want, including
javascript, just remember, the output of perl program is what will be
sent to the browser, so make sure it is valid document.
