http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_logo#Logos
Apple's first logo, Wayne, depicts Sir Isaac Newton sitting under an apple
tree.
Almost immediately, though, this was replaced by Rob Janoff's "rainbow Apple
", the now-familiar rainbow-colored silhouette of an apple with a bite taken
out of it. Janoff presented Jobs with several different monochromatic
themes for the "bitten" logo, and Jobs immediately took a liking to it.
While Jobs liked the logo, he insisted it be in co... 阅读全帖 |

Janoff says that he received no specific brief from Steve Jobs, and although
he's hazy about how he settled on the simple outline of an apple, the
reason for the bite is crystal clear: it's there for scale, he says, so that
a small Apple logo still looks like an apple and not a cherry.
It wasn't long before Janoff discovered the first happy coincidence of his
design, when a colleague told him that "bytes"... 阅读全帖 |

CB: What does the bite in the apple represents? Is it a reference to a
computing term byte? Is it a reference to the biblical event when Eve bit
into the forbidden fruit? Is the fruit itself referencing the discovery of
gravity by Newton when an apple fell on his head while sitting under the
tree?
RJ(Rob Janoff): They are really interesting, but I'm afraid it didn't have a

the bite (or "byte") to the Apple logo because:
a. It keeps the it from being too symmetrical
b. It helps the colors to stand out more
c. It draws attention away from the leaf and towards the apple
d. He wanted to imply that Apple computers gave you more 'bytes for your buck'
e. It keeps it from looking like a cherry tomato |
