的professor说Reseach Assistant比Internship好，说后者是对学生的training,前者

我现在统计PhD在读，上个月申请了Google的Quantitative Analyst internship。HR发
邮件说会把我的简历发给potential hosts看，如果有match的组，会安排电话面试。但
是，我至今还没有收到任何回音。如果哪位组里或者知道其他组里还有intern的空缺，

我对statistics和machine learning都比较熟。编程方面的话，R，Python，SQL都会，
C++和MATLAB也应该没问题。我之前也有在IT公司的实习经历。

本人是第五年Physics PhD，做实验的。大概还有一年多毕业。我的打算是毕业后不想
做学术，想进工业界。我们这行很苦逼，不好找工作。但自己之前有编程的基础（但我
的Research不需编程，编程只是个人爱好），于是想毕业后转行找码工工作。而且还有
一个重要原因是我女友马上要去湾区工作，所以如果我找码工工作就会有极大的机会能
去和她团聚。转行找工很难，但是很幸运的是我找到了一个今年暑期的马工实习，而且
是大公司，很有竞争力，很多学CS的人都不一定能被选上的那种。我认为这是转行的绝
佳跳板。所以我非常珍惜这个机会。最近跟老板谈了，但是他不太愿意我去，以下是他
的一些道理：
1、这个实习跟我的thesis毫无关系，完全是耽误时间。
2、虽然实习是三个月，但是我这边Research搁置三个月回来想要完全捡起来之前的
Research需要时间远大于三个月。
3、PhD基本没有做intern的。
4、一个PhD的degree对找工作帮助更大，intern没必要。

说。intern期间也可以写写thesis之类的。我现在是担心CPT申请。和楼主一样，要签
一个internship 和thesis有关的信，写起来好tricky，写的不相关，老板高兴了，学
校不批呀。扯的太远了，老板就不高兴了。

一个合适的公司。
欧洲有几个小公司做noc的，但是规模太小，估摸着人家不要internship的，大公司如S
T之类现在也没有这方面的opening，好不容易联系到IBM,Zurich的人，结果人家说这个
部门不做这方面的研究。
愁啊！！！
哪位大牛知道有没有可能从欧洲去美国实习？ |

underqualified的感觉。
自己偏向技术领域。最近套上一个local小公司，安排下周onsite。Qualcomm电面过，

sets/size, algorithms, lib, etc), 10 mins for 2 technical questions, and
that's it. Totally less than 30 min for the interview. Is that a typical

一轮面试。本来上
周三就面完了，但由于是新ID，3日内不能发帖。。。
本人大四，国内两年后transfer来到美国，年底毕业。学校一般，专业知识在学校里学
的很浅，几乎都是这两个月突击的。
上周三中午二面，technical interview + HR + senior manager
technical问题如下：
1. 具体内容忘记了，是关于一个pointer function 输出“hello world” 的题，感觉
我答得很乱，程序改了又该。然后讨论了polymorphism. 内存中地址存放问题
2. 写function，find the average of an array. 我用了double类型的 for loop，
感觉这方法很笨，但也没多想，之后说了说如果array很大如何处理。

前两轮面经已经发过，第三次是一个manager面的，不难，问了一些C++, Java的问题，
算法基本没问，一个reverse string, 然后面完给我发了道题，我大概用了一个小时
coding和test,最后给他发回去。信里他说下周给答复，因为面试是在周五下午,周六周
日休息。但是没想到recruter周六下午就给我email通知offer。
个人情况:
CS科班出身，在读phd, 这边学校一般(top 50), 空余时间开发、维护一些Open source
项目。
找internship准备的时间不是很长，断断续续的。搞黄几个面试，总算成功一个。C/C+
+, java, system比较熟，平时也都在用，基本没花多少时间准备。主要准备算法，版
上资源很多。

It`s same for my university, I need pay tuition and have no RA for summer.
However, the starting time of the internship overlaps the end of the spring
semester.
The admin in my department approved my CPT application, and said there would
be no problem for this short-period double-pay.
But if I was checked in the future, I should take the responsibility by
myself. Not sure if this is common or really a matter. |

申请到了一个秋季的实习职位，是有pay的，
现在的问题是，
因为我现在是因为我现在还是full time的学生，
学校要求我下个学期仍然要注册9个学分，
但是因为我get paid from the internship，
所以，学校不能给我assistantship,
也就不能给我pay 学费，我需要自己付学费。
而如果我现在转成phd candidate的话，
我又不能申请CPT,只能申请OPT了，
OPT申请好像需要的时间比较长。
请问，我现在的情况，有什么办法能避免我自己付学费么？
现在时间比较紧张了，所以比较着急，请各位出出主意吧。 |

Another question is if I got paid from internship,
can I still get an assistantship if the total work hours is less than 40
housr aweek?
If so, my advisor can give me a 10 hours RA, then the tuition can be waived.
But not sure it is legal or not?

internship拿cpt
做full time吗?
2.对公司有区别吗?需要什么特殊手续还是像一般入职?
