another partition?
like /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s7 (/hom1)?
What should I do to move a file?
I figure should be:
mv -f /usr/local /home1
link -s /home1/usr/local /usr/local
This would make /usr/local be the subdirectory of /home1,
right?
What if I want it to be at the level of /home1, but change
to the partition
/home1 resides? Is there anything need to be done in
/etc/vfstab?
How to specify /usr/local to a specific partition. Like
/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s7? |

cp -pr /home/* /home1
(diff -r /home /home1) to make sure everything got copied correctly
umount /home (remove it from /etc/fstab)
mv /home1 /home |

介绍的方式不太一样。我会简单讲下我为什么要这么做，主要
都是为了减少杂草发芽破坏新草坪的成长。还有我会尽量简化
掉不需要的步骤，减少资金投入。 反正我的方法是至少
有一个成功例子的。
先决条件，如果这些条件不满足，就不要考虑用这样的计划。
1）草坪要有自动的 irrigation system. 可以是临时的，但是
浇水要均匀。最好有可以编程一天超过 3 次喷水的那种控制
器。
2）要可以忍受草坪有几个月的时间完全秃掉，没有草的状态。
如果你不可以忍受，或者 HOA 不允许，那就不要考虑这个计划。
准备工作要有几个月。工作量其实不大，但是要细致。
3）可以接受使用 round up 来全部灭掉杂草。
使用工具：
1）drop spreader
2）pre-mix sprayer,撒农药和液体化肥。

04年末05年的时候在上海一个美籍华人创业公司工作 还记得那个人以前是在波音做工
程师的，在美国赚了第一桶金，回到上海找了一批大学刚毕业的小本科给很少的工资一

How do I know which partition a directory is on?
like: I have two partitions as: (with df)
/export/users (/dev/dsk/c0t1d0s6 ): 970276 blocks 939250 files
/export/home1 (/dev/dsk/c0t5d0s3 ): 3490094 blocks 929644 files
and I can not see /export on another partition.
when I create a directory /export/software
which partition does it go to?
Is there any command I can use to find out any file/dir on which partition?

One old system has Solaris 7.
and /usr, /var, /opt are all on partition of /.
Now it's almost full (100% usage) and only 12M left on /
partition.
What could be done to make room for this partition?
What kind of files can be moved around without lost of
function?
We have much room on other partitions, like /home, /home1.
Is there any tool like partition magic on PC for Unix? With
PM I can move free space around and it works pretty cool.

yes.
yes.
You can remove /home1 from vfstab and mount it on /usr/local.
If you want to keep existing partitions as-is, you will have to repartition.
in your /etc/vfstab:
/dev/dsk/c0t1d0s7 /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s7 /usr/local ufs 1 yes - |

They will be in /usr/local, and you will not be able to see all the files in
the original /usr/local if you don't copy them out to the old /home1.
Yes of course.
If you never did this before, I'd say take your own risk.
I have no experience installing Solaris by CD. All the machines
in my department were installed via network, and I upgraded lots
of them (hmmm, I upgraded 10 sun4u's last week, and I'm gonna
upgrade another 7 suns next week).
For Solaris 8 2G is enough. Lots of machines in my |
