科举时代,社会有活力,有和平的斗争,有斗争就有变化,当然,变化是不是“进步”

真正的一挡专政+文字狱才造成思想僵化。 思想最僵化的是清朝, 清代的旗人作为统
治党,而且是世袭的党,而且上升路线完全是靠取悦上级(“主子”)。 其科举和本
朝的民主党派一样,基本是摆设。 所以对世界的认识下降到零。
在真正的科举政治下, 有活力,有惊喜 , 有思想斗争,王学左派,王学右派,明代
江南某些地区号称一村一个学派。 大家斗来斗去,有思想斗争,学术派别, 也有地

关于中国为何没有自己演化为近代社会和科技革命(李约瑟问题),其实很没意思的问
题。
或许进入近代社会是一个黑天鹅事件,如 Taleb 说的,本身是各种偶然因素凑在一起

年中国的情形,但是因为不符合老板Henry Luce的反共宣传需要而不被发表,被雪藏了
几十年后才在2003年集册出版。

It's a gamble. Odds to win were in favor of attacking Moscow directly.
However, the consequence of going for the win and failing it would have been
disastrous. So the risk/reward calculation was still roughly 50/50 for
either option.
A safe bet with hindsight would have been to attack Kiev as historically
happened, forgo Operation Typhoon, solidify the central front, and exploit
the advantage in Ukraine. Then make a push for Moscow in spring of 1942. |

In 1980s I was a graduate students at University of Illinois. African
students in the campus who had been invited to study in Soviet Union
lavished praise on Soviet Union. Ayt the time I did not know the long lines
there, which US media later brought to our attention (us means people in US)
only after Soviet Union collapsed (talk about 20/20 hindsight).

触到这样的化学试剂,谁有动机谋害朱令,谁有机会下毒。 没错,很多化学实验室的
管理很松,可是没接触过这东西的人根本就不会想象到它的毒性并考虑以它为毒品,而
氰化钾/钠人人知道而且更有效些,即使是学化学的,在朱令事件出来前,有多少知道
铊的毒性大小?或许朱令认识到社会上的一些人,但是那些人要搞到铊又没那么容易,
更别说他们没多少知道铊的毒性了。你孙家人带着证明铊很容易获得这个目的去偷点铊
,目的性那么强那当然可以做得到。假设朱令在酒吧结识了一个心胸狭隘男友而招致杀
身之祸,他会想到专门搞些铊去朱令宿舍毒死她?
假设一个案件成立要证明ABCD,很多人都可以满足其中任何一项,但是所有项都满足的
往往就是凶手一个。
如果在这样的事实下都不能定罪,那实在不知其可也。估计要亲眼看见某人从实验室拿
铊,下毒,朱令服下毒品的连贯过程才能令他们信服。否则,拿铊不能证明下毒,下毒
不能证明就是毒也不能证明朱令服下,朱令服下不能证明偷铊者下毒,这样一来,很多
案件就根本不可能破了。

用现在的知识看以前,以前的决策全是错的。
这事如果发生在西方,是绝无可能开始就封城。一个新病毒,根本搞不清楚咋回事,还

In the 5th campaign, PLA had its biggest embarrassment ever: the 180th
Division of the 60th army was totally lost. Except the 3,000 men who
withdrew earlier, the majority of the division were captured by UN. The
division commander and other high ranking officers escaped, but they were
