systems include pistol, carbine, mid length, and rifle gas.
16" barrel can utilize both carbine gas and mid length gas system
The closer the gas port is to the chamber, the higher the force that is
applied to the bolt.
By lengthening the gas system with mid length, the bolt and receiver
lifespan is somewhat increased and the felt recoil is slightly dampened.
That is the merit of mid length over carbine gas system.

his front sight must be interfering with his scope sight picture some what.
on low power setting the front sight will appear as a blur and in some cases
darkens the overall picture.
you can swap out the FSB with a railed gas block or low profile gas block.
FSB can be removed by knocking out its pins with a punch; you can then
install a railed gas block and put a folding front sight on it;

I think even the 11" NSR handguard and barrel nut combo is no heavier than
the magpul carbine handguard plus delta ring. The key mod interface is the
way to go.
11" is the minimal handguard length to allow for thumb over bore grip in
average people. |

网站，上面有如何安装。bushmaster varminter的handguard本身就是free float，
所以拆的步骤基本就是装的步骤反过来。
如果你要装其它牌子的free float，先看安装步骤，因为结构可能跟larue这种不
一样，有可能需要另买配件。 |

我的Saiga-12型号是IZH109-BHO，具有原装空仓挂机。改装选用用Tromix modified
Tapco G2 firing control group; SGM tri-rail handguard; K-var
Warsaw length stock; CSS trigger guard。弹夹用SGM (surefire）的。
详细的改装教程网上随便搜搜至少就有好几篇，而且早就有人录像。这里的视频

hassle-free free-floating solution is the Vltor CASV-MX handguard with rails
. Has any gurus here used it?
2 concerns: 1st is the raised top on the upper after installation, will it
still work with my red-dot; 2nd is how to take off the sling swirl attached
to the A2 block.

The std handguard has a little play in it when shooting - I used to shoot
22LR in this AR, which is hardly noticed; but for 5.56 rounds the handguard
actually moves quite abit, which is annoying now. That's the main reason. So
looking for a free-float, but requires no gunsmith.
Certainly I wudn't complain abt the look, comparing to the std HG. |

发帖数: 5546 | 32 之前也有哥们提到过想弄一把家里LD也端得动的AR，我这也是初步尝试，索性和众坛友
分享一下。我家领导身材比较娇小，只有162cm，虽然也经常游泳跑步，但站着打枪，
瞄一会就累了。Upper就用的之前买的16寸light weight, 因为14.5寸的轻管前边还要
花钱弄一个pinned muzzle device，根本轻不了多少还贵。LD手小握传统的瘦长
Handguard更舒服，唯一比较沉的是铁瞄和ST-T2 buffer，还好都在后边。
今天刚弄好，还没去靶场，差个bullet button,LD端着在家里瞄了半天，对重心非常满
意，对我进行了口头表扬。整枪估算下来也不便宜，大概要九百多，部件如下供新人朋
友参考，老前辈们勿笑：
BCM BFH 16" middy LW 铅笔管 + BCM BCG
这个Handguard是从一个朋友新Noveske Upper上拿下来的，不知道谁代工，看上去还行。
LMT的Charging Handle和Rear Sight，19+44块（10%折扣后），LMT的东西做的虽然不是
特精致，但看起来挺敦实的。

if you save 8 ounces on the scope, 4 ounces on scope rings, 10 ounces on a
stock, 8 ounces on a handguard, and 2 ounces on the muzzle device, you just
took off 2 pounds.
I don't mind a few ounces either, if they serve any purpose. I wouldn't
choose magpul MOE handguard if i want tack driving accuracy, i'd go with a
slightly heavier free float tube.

发帖数: 1502 | 34 July 4th扫的UTG RAIL终于到了，这家公司总是很骄傲地宣称他的RAIL是MADE IN USA.
这是我进的第三个UTG RAIL了，只用过这家公司的，没有其它的对比，个人感觉还不错
。装上之后，一点都不晃，与各种附件互动良好。原装Polymer的那种HANDGUARD虽然轻
一点，但还是会有一点晃动的，不知MagPul MOE Handguard会不会好一点。其它名牌
RAIL也研究过，轻一点但价格小贵，觉得不值，何况与我这把草根AR也不太相称。
至此，软硬实力AR的改装告一段落。硬实力为了操控自如尽量廋身，虽然挂了不少东东
，但还是比软实力轻了不少。 |

I want only one rail on the receiver for optics and magpul MOE handguard---
no rails, but all attachment points. That is extremely efficient.
To this day I still don't understand the point of having a monolithic full
length quad-rail aluminum handguard with nothing but rubber rail cover. that
's like carrying a brick on your AR. |

我在网上看到说最好不要把iron sight 装在free float rail上,因为它和枪管是分离
的.
但也不能装太重的front sight,因为gas block很靠前,上面装重物,会影响枪管的射击
精度.

什么时候讲讲front sight和butt stocks吧？ 我想装一个free float 20"的rifle,还
在看free float handguard和front sight如何配在一起不会handguard过长遮住gas
block on 20" barrel。
大家说不要用Pinned的front sight,用screwed 或是clamped.也有人说，对于barrel的
影响pinned
以后装scope,又不会太重，影响barrel的准确性？
想买一个collaposible或是adjustable的butt stocks.不知道两个有何区别？都是可调
节长短的。经常看到说six/eight position adjustable,不知道这是什么意思？ 大大
麻烦解释一下？ 再推荐一个butt stocks,适合我们小个子（173-175)的。 |

发帖数: 1806 | 44 tapco这个quad rail设计的真是不错，感谢kevinwu兄弟的推荐。装了很满意，来强推
一把：
-目的：给AK装红点，本来纠结的问题包括价钱，安装，co-witness,重量，握的舒适与
否加上守法的限制。
-结果，真的很意外，但是居然全部实现了。
价钱便宜，amazon才40出头；
安装容易，google一下安装video，无工具15分钟搞定没问题。也不影响未来gas tube
的拆装和清洁。
重量，几乎和原来的handguard一样重。因为是poly为主，里面加铝heat shield做成的
。所以够轻，也没有ultimak之类替换了gas tube的不安定因素。 左右只有一小段rail
，这设计很好。
co-witness, 这是之前纠结最严重的问题，其他备选方案都是3倍到6倍的cost。我想要
co-witness也就是想让铁瞄还能用，并不是非得严格co-witness，就是防万一如果红点
没电了啥的，结果这个目的做到了，因为tapco在顶上rail中间挖了个槽，刚好还可以
用铁瞄瞄准。见图。

barrel
Preferably 16-18" barrel
Mid length gas for 14-16" barrel
Rifle length gas for 18-20" barrel

候发现free floating handguard上面的rail和receiver上的rail左右对不齐，
handguard上的向左偏了3-5mm。不知道这个是容易纠正的问题还是属于严重质量缺陷？

加州民主党继续推行各种禁枪法案，两个最新针对半自动步枪的法案正在进行中。
如果
通过，2017年起要全面禁止各类主流半自动步枪，包括最流行的 AR-15系列步枪。想拥
枪的朋友在抓紧行动，趁今年最后机会买几把。
我也是新手，抛砖引玉说说如何买第一把 AR-15 （主流口径 5.56 mm ) 。高手们请指
正，或者写出更好的指南。
选择一：买整枪。以三谷本地三个枪店为例( (Livermore J&R sports, Solar
tactical, Dublin fishing and guns) 都出售各类 AR-15. 去枪店看到喜欢的买就是
了。
一般入门的品牌有
