far you WANT to go.
For purely going to the summit purpose, you can hike up Ha Ling Peak or
Grotto in Canmore. But honestly, these two hikes are not that scenic or fun
as compared to the hikes I listed previously. You can save them for your
second trip. If you want to hike above the tree line, Skyline Trail might
be a good one.

会总坏，一路走来赶上了晴空万里，先不说花瓶岛有多美，仅仅是一路上不断飘过的牛
群，漫山遍野的草垛，还有田野里熙熙攘攘的黄花就让人心旷神怡了。
住宿的motel不仅比想象的好，还送了早上第一班去花瓶岛cruise买一送一的优惠，不
等不让人感觉时来运转了。因为到的时间是中午，所以选择先去Bruce半岛公园。公园
的hiking很多，考虑到体力问题就选择了最经典也是最简单的Georgian Bay Trail，去
看一下经典的Grotto。起初trail也只算平平，走到一处岔路，遥远的看到了湖水，于
是试探性的出去看看大湖风光。一脚迈出trail，却像是一脚迈进了天堂，两个人呆呆
的看着眼前难以描述的美景，除了惊叹也许一切语言都是多余的。蓝绿色的湖水在白色
鹅卵石的映衬下是那么的晶莹剔透，若不是湖畔惬意的躺着的一对情侣，似乎都有些不
敢相信自己依然在红尘人间。
靠近grotto的时候出现了另外一片湖水，一样的鹅卵石，一样湖水，只是少了些宁静，

这是一条短小精悍的trail，
道路狭窄，灌木丛生， 难度 2。
90％ 的人过关。
3。Moss Grotto Falls
道路狭窄陡峭，多沙石，多悬崖，
1／2 的人过关，难度 4。5。
4。 Ribbon Rock Falls
太难走了， 1／4的人只走了 一半，
最后眼睁睁的看着一群带头盔的老美凭借绳子跳崖找瀑布去了。
难度 100％！！
强烈建议喜欢自虐的同学可以带绳子冲锋。
第一张是Rubio Canyon Trail
第二张是Moss Grotto Falls Trail
用四肢低头小心翼翼爬的，前面的人喊照相才勉强抬了下头。 |

早晨8点出发，Vegas街上的车还很少。开出Vegas，沿I-15向东，一片荒芜的沙漠风光
。开始还很兴奋地体会这份苍凉，看看Joshua树，后来慢慢被这一望无边了无生机的灰
色磨得懒懒的，提不起精神来。等到Mesquite了眼前突然一亮，路边不远处一片耀眼的
绿洲，很是赏心悦目。绿洲这个词，听得看得都烂熟于心了，但若是不到沙漠里走走，
不可能真正明白这是怎样的奇迹。换Ut-9以后，一条小河就开始时不时伴随在公路左右
，像一条绿色的带子飘来飘去，这就是Virgin River，在Zion还会和她亲密接触。很快
到了Hurricane。在这里竟然发现警察大哥开的是皮卡，并且没有任何警灯或警车的标
志。如果不是抓了一个超速的，还真难注意到。这个发现使得我们整个旅途中开车谨慎
了很多。后来陆续发现Utah南部的警车很多都用皮卡，真长见识了。
10点半到达Zion门口的小镇Springdale。很多小旅店分布在街边。这里有两家卖石头的

经过几番辗转，我终于来到这个名叫西黄石的小镇，载我到这里的Shuttle司机把我撂
下后面带不解的看着我：他知道我不会开车，也没有同伴，他很好奇我能用什么方式搞
定这个偌大的国家公园。
事先了解这里有Tour Bus，可四月中旬的黄石小镇一片冷清，虽然天空晴朗，却看不到
几个游人，只有偶尔过往的车辆。这情形很难让人把这和举世闻名的美国黄石国家公园
联系到一块。我开始担心我的黄石之行有可能打水漂。
推开Visitor Center的大门，里面的摆设颇有些林中猎户风格，迎面是一头野牛仿真半
身模型，挂在墙上，仿佛正欲破墙而出。大厅的一个角上放着木制休息桌椅，墙上挂着
麋鹿头部模型和黄石公园内各种鱼类的模型，形象栩栩如生。
迎接我的是一位40多岁的白人女工作人员，互相问好后她拿出地图，熟练地标记出在这
个季节我能去的景区和还未开放的道路。我告诉她我没车，她说镇里有租车的地方。我

发帖数: 382 | 11 清晨，早早起床，背着相机和干粮，奔向Beehive Geyser。据
http://geysers.net/mobile/ 预测，Beehive Geyser将在8:30左右喷发，
不过这一左一右各有两小时，意味着最长四个小时的等待。我在七点半左右赶
到，还好Beehive尚未喷发。打量四周，只见Upper Geyser Basin村村点火，
处处冒烟，到处白雾缭绕。
快到八点，远处的Old Faithful Geyser率先喷发，揭开这一天喷泉总动员的
序幕。
等了快两小时，Beehive前的预警小喷泉终于出水，意味着Beehive喷发在即。
游人渐渐围拢过来。又过了二十分钟，Beehive Geyser终于喷薄而出。
Beehive Geyser离观众很近，仿佛触手可及，且喷发的时间长，势头猛。两个
多小时的辛苦等待终于得到丰厚回报。
回到旅馆，接出晚起的家人，继续我们的喷泉和彩池之旅。首先经过的是正在
休眠的Castle Geyser，看上去像个大号的Beehive Geyser，或者是小号的
活火山。

- rent car, eat lunch, buy water, drive to Moab, check in hotel around 3
pm.
- buy the NPS annual pass
- Balanced Rock (30 min), take about 20 min to drive to there. If hv
time, hit view points/pull out along the way
- The Windows + double arch (1hr)
- eat diner and buy apple, sandwich at city market, fill up gas

San Diego聖地牙哥這個城市，在距離LA南方約二小時車程的位置，如果住南
一些，一個多小時就會到，所以是一個蠻方便去玩的地方，當天就可以來回沒問
題，一般想到這個城市，最有名的就是San Diego是美國Biotech生化科技產業
最集中的一個中心，在旅遊上Zoo動物園和Sea World海洋世界也極為著名，這
個城市本身也非常值得一遊。從LA過去，走5號往南，在途中還有一個Outlets，
剛好可以休息一下，就是Carlsbad Premium Outlets，在Palomar Airport Rd下往
北就會看到，隔壁是The Flower Fields，有荷蘭風車和美麗的花田，每年春季開
花時就會開放，Early March through early May。1887年落成的Neimans Restaurant
是維多利亞風格古建築，現改名為Ocean House是Carlsbad著名的懷舊餐館。

学费今年首度超过6万美元。
大学新闻刊物《Campus Grotto》今年的名单显示，超过70所美国大学学费都在5.5万美
元以上。位于纽约州的莎拉劳伦斯学院(Sarah Lawrence College)拔得今年名单的头筹
，一年费用要61236美元，其次为纽约大学(59837美元)，位于加州的哈维穆德学院(
Harvey Mudd College)则名列第三，一年学费58913美元，紧接其后的则是纽约哥伦比
亚大学(58742美元)，以及位于康州的韦斯利阳大学(58202美元)。
这种价位的学费使得学生必须通过学生贷款和其它途径，才能读完大学。这也促使学贷
总额水涨船高。
皮尤研究中心(Pew Research Center)最新报告指出，全美有五分之一的家庭不得不求
助于学生贷款。去年全美教育贷款超越1万亿美元。
报告称，户主年龄在35岁以下的家庭，有40%背负着学生贷款。所有背负学贷的家庭，

Grotto，有道gnocchi里面的肉很好吃，味道浓郁。往北走20分钟可以到剑桥的Helmand
，很出色的阿富汗菜，有手抓饭之类，现烤的免费饼也好吃。如果要高大上可以去附近
的Cafe Artscience，概念和食物都很高端。往东走15分钟是north end的各种意大利菜。 |
