想找学术界的工作，postdoc时间一久，工业界也没得去了，要在faculty路上好好走，
请教各位过来人，这样的条件今年可以上marketing了吗？

AP阶段，发文章还可以。今年打算多申申grant,中了会锦上添花。
上半年投了三个，全军覆没。所有的program都不给feedback,说是由于收到的proposal
太多。所以也不知道如何改。
下半年就一点动力也没有了，总是眼睁睁看着deadline这么飘过去。

发帖数: 470 | 6 最近和一个senior合写一个grant，一个月内due。我做技术，他做疾病,program侧重技
术，所以我是contact PI。他选的疾病模型我完全不懂。除了我自己的preliminary
results以外，其他部分感觉完全无从下手，尤其是需要把技术和生物体系有机结合的
research部分。以前他用我的技术写过这个疾病的grants（我帮写的技术部分，但从来
没看到过完整的proposals）。于是我写信试探他是否可以提供这些proposal（或者部
分内容），好让我在短时间内对他想做的体系有清晰的概念，有的放矢。结果压根不理
睬。让我感觉很别扭。
第一次合写grant，没经验,不知道这样要求是不是合适。感觉不被信任。但我是PI,最
后我总是要看到他写的东西。而且他的这个体系对我单独申请完全没用，反而是我的技
术适用性更强，他可以拿来申各种不同疾病的基金。这种情况该怎么处理才能保护自己
的合理利益，又不burn the bridge？要做到买卖不成情谊在，发现自己还是情商有待
提高。 |

投. 另一个完全是新课题。问题是两个 grant 同时投送同一个study section是否有什

proposal时候有很多细节没有太在意。来请教一下大家这种情况该怎么处理。
情况是我是pi, 一个同系的老教授是co pi. 整个proposal都是我写的，老教授就提供
第二份实验data(我本人也有一份data)。由于不是他的领域，之后的工作也只能我来开
展。但是投proposal的时候，学校内部系统要划分credit, 我没想太多就让grant
office写了个65%, 35%. 老教授之前也没拿过NSF的research grant. 这种情况我能要
求学校只开一个账户统一由pi管理吗？NSF文件里倒没有65%, 35%这个说明。
再者，由于他的base salary比我高很多，虽然我budget自己一个月他3weeks, 他从项
目拿到的summer pay比我还高不少，总感觉不是很reasonable. 其实我更想花更多的钱
在学生上，我能够降低他的summer pay来给学生么？哪怕我也一起降。
在这些问题上， pi是不是有很大的权利来决定？多谢大家了。 |

我没有申请过grant，确实不知道这个数据，第一次接触，
说心里话，我申请grant的真实动机是为了增加和导师在一起交流的机会和时间，仅此
而已，其余的都没想那么多。
我很喜欢和他聊天啊，虽然他总是很friendly很耐心的陪我闲扯，可我不能滥用他的善
意啊，他的时间很宝贵的，所以我总是想给他一点技术上的回报。。
我说了，我们申请一个几千块的fund就行了，就算锻炼锻炼我的能力，没想到导师说不
要担心钱的问题，关键是这个proposal的吸引力和创新的角度，当然我也没想到他越谈
越认真了，最后他直接上白板来画图，居然都进入分析阶段了，我考，看得我目瞪口呆
的，这学术造诣，真是教父级的。
师徒两的谈话效率就这么的奇高无比。
这个grant的钱，本来我就想都给导师的，我不要的。具体怎么run，我还都不知道，导
师已经制定了方案了，目前的状态还是由我来执笔（此刻是这样），他已经交代了哪些
东西可以写，哪些是不能写的，
我正在这按照他给的剧本，编故事呢。。。。哈哈哈 |

发帖数: 34 | 13 申请一个小grant，Reviewer A 比较有经验，comments也比较中肯，但他提的问题/要
求小grant那点钱没办法支持。Reviewer B 胡说八道，明明好几个图的结果在那里，他
还在质问那些图已经回答的问题。那些图的结果足够说明结论不管以哪个期刊的标准，
很明显reviewer B没有看。
看到reviewer B comments 后很气愤，想给grant contact 写封信，不是申诉结果，而
是表达失望。Proposal是每个申请人心血的结晶，不中没有关系，但至少应该被
reviewer认真读一遍。
觉得reviewer B 太过分，请问板上上的各位前辈，换作你们会写email吗？ |

时候，徐小平还专门写了本书，教你如果应付签证官，其实呢？那本书有屁用。后面签
证容易了，阿猫阿狗都拿到了签证。本质都是一样，什么grantmanship都是狗屁，就是
美帝没钱了，学术圈的一帮人就越来越mean，今天你据我的文章据我的grant，明天我
据别人的文章别人的grant。
最近很有想法想回去，觉得天天写grant，何必啊？生命都浪费在这上面，哎。 |

帖子里面一共涉及了两个grants
第一个grant是我自己的，已经把我的teaching load减了，而且2022年可以再renew 5
年，如果成功teaching load还是1+1
我的问题是关于现在在申请的第二个grant，我只是co-applicant，budget里面说我“
time commitment 10hrs／week”。team中其他人都是医生，soft money，所以我的理
解是这个时间直接convert成他们的工资比例。
但是我的情况就不知道怎么办了。已经100% hard money了，拿到了本该用来付我工资
的钱，我怎么能够收益？如果要求涨工资，惯例应该是多少？25% 还是一个更小的比例？ |

我有一个AHA的 career development的grant SDG， 希望从现在的学校转到新的学校，
但是新的学校还没完全谈好position。因为家庭原因，我希望尽早过去。
转这个grant必须要求对方提供一个faculty position，我以前的title是research
scientist，在以前的学校也算是faculty position。新的学校系主任说最简单的是
visiting faculty position，我对这种title完全不了解，请教visiting faculty对转
grant 够了吗？ 我问AHA，他们说faculty position就可以，但是不知道这种visiting
的算不算。

grant还剩一半钱吧。不知道grant transfer的时候会不会有问题，会不会影响接下来

title search 吧。 这样会不会charge 我费用？ HOA manager 和我说一般 Loan

专帮外国人填税单的律师谈了半个多小时，期间问了这个问题，以下是解答。
联邦税表上的一项：1042NR-EZ第8条：scholarship and fellowship grants excluded
（这个表是1042NR的简略版，EZ=easy）。
如果你的钱是teaching来源的，也就是说你是TA, 那你前三年的税是全免，第4年开始
，无论你的工资来源是哪，都要开始交税。能享受这个免税的前提是，学校给你的1042
-S的第一项Inc.code是18 （很多人应该是19）。Scholarship来源的收入同。可能有些
学校，给你的钱名义上是TA或scholarship，但给你的1042-S上的code是19，那从法律
上来说你是不能享受免税的。这种情况估计你要自己去同学校交涉了。律师说了，有很
多学校是这样的，他也不知道为什么。
如果钱是grant里面出的，理论上来说前三年也应该是免税的，但这时候应该有另一张
表会寄到你家，表明你的这部分收入是可以exempt的 （具体是什么表我就不知道了）... 阅读全帖 |

版上很少有人提到Research Grant， 我想问一下有Grant的话怎么吹比较好。作为Co-PI,我有几个比较大的Grant. NIH $6.5M; NSF: $1.5M; 但这两个都是最近才下来的，NASA: $0.8M;还有一个25万的。这个能不能作为证据提供，说自己的Contribution? 谢谢了 |

as a PI. You can ask your PI (if you are paid on his grant) to be a co-I. |

in our school, postdoc cannot be PI for NIH R or P grants (even subawards)
or even some internal grants. but other schools may have different policy.
NIH doesn't require any title or green card for R grants , but without
being independent, I doubt you can get any. so it is not worth it wasting
your time. |

如果这两个问题的回答都是否，那么你就可写可不写。
当然，你也可以委婉的指出这个文章署名的问题和每半年汇报的问题，
先让你的老板给你一个清楚的说法。假如老板告诉你，一作肯定还是你，
他连并列一作都不可以（除非他做了很多工作），汇报让他去做。
那么在这个前提下你可以去写。
在是一个又笨又懒的老薄厚，这个grant基本比较好拿，他那么多年了居然还没有拿过
。我只是疑问为什么老板不让他写他自己的东西。我的东西是比较新，中标的机会可能
大一些，知道老板要顾全大局，但直接这样要我给人让我牺牲也太多了些吧。我刚刚有
一片文章定了稿，估计他下面就会让那个老薄厚也加到我这篇文章里来了。因为谁拿
grant对他来说都是一样的。 |

still likely to be discussed because no one in that study section is given
1s and hardly 2 (yes, the reviewers follow the NIH instructions loosely). I
also saw another study section that if you have one or two 3s, your grant
won't be discussed at all. My department has faculty development meeting
and I get to look at several summary statements from different study
