发帖数: 1371 | 1 俺娃有类似经验，是1/2混合的。 校长说的没错，至少在俺娃的班，他们是特地挑了比
较乖，比较advanced的1st grader去这样的班，可能是觉得老师负担已经比较重这样比
较好管吧。
我女儿的班的老师很好，我猜差的老师也handle不了，她们1st grader用的课本都和普
通的1st grader不一样，课堂上两个年级的东西都讲，都练习，只不过练习题的深浅不
同。
如果说有不好的地方，就是在参加活动的时候。如果是两个年级都要参加的，就只有一
半的kids会有lead teacher陪着，另一半就是assistant teacher 陪同；只有一个年级
要参加的，lead teacher 带去，剩下的只好在班里自习或者去那个活动旁观。记得一
次学校的music show, 女儿年级每个班的都上去表演合唱，人家班都20个，她们班只有
一半人，稀稀拉拉的，看着很可怜 ：-）
总之女儿很喜欢，学业方面下一个年级的时候觉得很轻松，至于有别的不好我也说不上
。不过话说回来，至少在俺们学区，没有啥特殊理由是不让转班的。如果转不了，不如
给娃说的好听一点，说他是优秀才被选上的。。。 |

沿袭的习惯，毕业班学生可以在学校做一些恶作剧（Senior prank），比如在墙上涂鸦
，用卫生纸围绕教学楼等等，可是，今年他们毕业班几个学生却做了一件超出了恶作剧
程度的事情，以致遭到不得毕业的严重处罚。因为他们在校园的墙上写满了恶毒谩骂校
长的脏话！整个上午，学校的老师都在忙于遮盖和清洗这些涂写……
这位校长刚刚上任三个多月，前段时间曾与她有过短暂接触。这是个矮小精干的年轻黑
人女校长，拥有博士学位，之前在军队任职。自从上任后，她致力于整顿校风校纪，作

In the middle school and high school, many competitions are based on grade.
For example, Mathcounts, spelling bee, etc are for studnets 8th grader or
younger.
You should stay in the current grade, but you can take high level courses.
My kid is in 6th grade, but he is taking 8th grade math. He skipped 2 grades
by take credit by exam, but he is still considered as 6th grader for all
competition and are still socializing with all his 6th grader friends. |

发帖数: 19 | 23 我就是UCI的，个人觉得如果学电路还是TAMU比较靠谱。BRCM虽然总部在UCI校园内，但
也不是是个人就能进去的（实习打杂做测试的多，正式职位少；烙印也很多）。
我曾经听BRCM的工程师亲口说UCI不是名校，光凭学校学的那点货他们根本不看重。
TAMU应该是EE TOP20,所以显然应该去TAMU.现在UC系统疯涨学费，一般入学过一年还要
涨一次，念个UCI花钱真的够念两个TAMU了。TAMU个人感觉更好进入BRCM/QCOM等硬件公司
CS是最好找工作的，我个人觉得软件业特别是云计算这块确实是能够创造价值的，所以
那些公司能挣到钱。但UCI最坑爹的地方是CS在ICS学院里，很多人都不知道误申EECS。
EECS在工程学院，06/07年BROADCOM等几个本地公司给EECS捐了一些钱，后来金融危机
公司没那么多钱也不捐了，EECS的钱也用完了，现在大把招自费MS自费/公派PHD。做研
究来讲感觉EECS主要是灌水，所以也不能吸引公司的FUNDING，NSF的FUNDING越来越少
更不指望。而UCI的ICS全美排名前30，做数据库、编译器的一些老师都是大牛，经常有

就只是和还在找第一份工的焦虑期的同学们分享下
我很怕写简历和投简历，英语也很烂，常常电话都会紧张的说不出话
我这么弱这么懒都有offer，你们一定能有更好的！
从投第一个简历到拿offer大概用了1年几个月
不过从认真投简历到拿到offer大概只有4个多月
因为比较懒，也因为觉得他们做的东西看起来还是挺有意思的，并且据说公司气氛比较
轻松，所以第一个offer就从了
×××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××
因为是转行，第一个学期之前微积分全忘光了，所以基本在恶补数学好好上课，好在课
程不难，很容易都拿了a。顺便找了份最低工资的on-campus job搞定了ssn
（做了一个学期只有100块钱-_-）
第2个学期继续好好上课，顺便考了sas的两个证，也考了1门精算，但是可惜sas过了考
试还是一点都不会，精算后来也没用上。
第一个暑假开始写简历，投了10几个，只收到一个nonpaid intern的面试和offer（很
小的公司，事实证明他们基本是招人打免费工，投了的都要了）

我们家就有个1st grader 小蹦豆，最苦的就是作业。每天母子俩写个作业写得鼻涕眼
泪一把一把的。苦恼的时候我就回忆，这辈子在中国上的学里，我从来没为作业发过愁
，怎么到儿子这里才是个小蹦豆我的头发就愁白了？
挖了下原因：肯定是作业太难！ 我实在回忆不起自己一年级的时候都做了什么作业。
就说说儿子的作业：
每个星期四发，下个星期五交。不鼓励周末做作业，每个星期做星期一到星期四的。内
容如下：
Monday：作业里提供一首诗，要求背诵。再自己做一首，呀不押韵的不要求
Tu：book review。写书的名字，作者的名字，插图谁画的。要求写开始，结束，将了
什么问题，怎么解决的，有什么人物，什么setting（场景？），你学到了什么。这是
要求写呀，同学们！还要画书里你最喜欢的画面。

2013年春，针对学生目前英语口语欠缺这一现状，我校在海外中国教育基金会的牵线搭
桥下，和远在美国的高雷老师和Lily老师结缘。她们利用远程网络课堂，义务为我们学
校学生进行英语口语教学，她们流利的口语、丰富的肢体语言，一下子就吸引了参与远
程学习的的每一位师生。每堂课精彩不断，得到了全校师生的一致好评！通过一年多的

Finally， I can say byebye to Kindergarten!”这话里可是有话啊。当初和他一起长大的很多小朋友们都纷纷跳级到一年级，于是在过去一年里，儿子听到了太多“Haha， you are just kindergartener, I am first grader!”。哎，生活在一堆天才中的普通孩子压力和郁闷不是一般的大，这是一声Byebye如同当年老马老恩说“再见，万恶的资本主义。” 可怜的儿子，殊不知在他一脚踏进一年级的时候，哪些一年级的朋友们又在二年级的门口说：“Hi， first grader！”不过那是暑假之后的事了，明天的事明天再说吧，还是先来对混过去的一年小结一下吧。
有两种人一定要夸，一是试衣镜前的女人，二就是成长中的孩子。所以虽然和本版和身边的一票天才儿童比，咱们娃在传统经典项目上如阅读，写作，数学，钢琴等等都望尘莫及，但本着没有闪光点，挖一挖就有了的原则，做出如下非典型报告：
