可的舰只，实际相当于后来的巡洋舰的概念。cruiser这个词出现比较晚，最早指单舰
或小编队长距离执行巡航，制海，破交之类的舰只，说的是任务，不是舰种。后来这类
任务的需求，产生了特定的巡洋舰的舰种。destroyer出现更晚，直到二战前都是主要
设计用来对付鱼雷艇的。
frigate在近现代海军史上作为一般护航，锚地巡逻之类的。英国在二战前建造比驱逐
舰小，航行能力明显不如的舰艇，执行这类任务，称为frigate。这个舰种的名称广泛
影响了全世界。
不过战后欧洲大陆还是以过去模糊的那种说法把很多舰都叫frigate。法国就是导弹火
炮为主要武器的水面舰艇，稍微大点的统统都叫frigate，具体用不同frigate来分。
最新的地平线级叫防空(air defense)frigate，老一点的卡萨尔级叫对空(anti air)
frigate，还有反潜的。拉法耶级叫light frigate，这相当于英系说法的frigate，前

各国的叫法都不同，一个国家的分类方法也可以说变就变的
该讲的大部分破猫都讲了，我就补充个例子
就拿美国来说，75年以前，Cruiser，巡洋舰，除了长滩号基本上都是二战的老舰
Cruiser之下就是Frigate，编号DL或DLG，国内翻译成驱逐领舰、导弹驱逐领舰
但实际上美军那时候是用Frigate这个词的，全程Destroyer Leader, Frigate
这种Frigate实际上是作为前置的传感器和火力平台，引领Destroyer，驱逐舰的
Destroyer的吨位要小一些，而更小一些的主要做护航用，标号DE，Destroyer Escort
美军这种分法和大多数欧洲国家的系统是绝然不同的
75年后美国向英国的叫法靠拢了Frigate们摇身一变，大多成了Cruiser
而Destroyer Escort则成了Frigate |

Taiwan's aim was aspirational, rather than a reality. After all,
(a) China announced the capability in mid-1980s but Annual Report to
Congress: Military and Secutiry Developments Involving the People's Republic
of China. 2010, by US Department of Defense, stated that enither JL-1 nor -
2 was operational.

这个就是有名的军舰鸟，frigatebird
frigate在十八世纪十九世纪的时候，由于轻便和有足够的火力，是用来劫掠别国船只
的主要舰种。因为这种鸟爱抢劫掠夺，所以得名frigatebird。中文没有对应frigate的
词汇，所以只能翻译成军舰鸟。
frigate属于一种比较轻便的军舰，只有一层或者两层甲板，三四十门炮。
中文关于航海的词汇比较贫乏，很多船名器材术语都没有对应的词汇
了。

前言：從巡防艦、護衛艦到巡洋艦
說到巡洋艦(Cruiser)，我們必須先提到19世紀初期的海軍艦艇分類。
當時海軍艦艇依火砲數量多寡，主要分為6大等級，前二級是所謂的
戰線艦(Line of Battle Ship)，擔任的是海上決戰的主角，又分成第一
級的3層甲板，以及第二級的2層甲板，每層甲板均裝備有大量火砲。
第三級則稱為巡防艦(Frigate)，則是遠洋商船護航與派遣用。第四級
護衛艦(Covertte)則更小一點，作業範圍較接近本土。第五級巡邏艦
(Sloope)，已經接近近海作戰用艦的範疇。而最後一級砲艦(Gun
Vessel)，則屬近岸防禦艦，任務性質上可說是今日飛彈快艇的前身。
隨著工業革命的展開，1803年富爾敦在美國首次試航蒸汽動力船隻，
船艦動力系統進入了人力與風力之後的第三波革命：機械力。1822
