12rules放在今天就是直接亏空,但上世纪他就是超过90%的盈利.

他们选人其实很简单，就是看经过打包之后candidate能不能卖个好价钱。

校录取，却被差一点点的学校拒绝。认识沃顿的一两个学生，并不能证明你对沃顿了解
多少。沃顿的某些学生也不见得一定比别的学校的学生强。
2 我说的是“本身职位很稳固的人没有任何incentive今年申请。”
不是所有本身职位稳固人都想申请商学院的。申请商学院要想好Why Bschool,这对本
身职位稳固人尤为重要，因为放弃稳固的工作去上学不是一件容易的事. 有长期计划的
，职位稳定的人不会因为经济不好而提前，或拖后申请。对于这些人没有任何
Incentive今年申请，如果他们以前不计划今年申请的话。
3 现在的职位并不能说明将来的潜力，这个道理是不会因为我们现在是21世纪改变的
年轻人有自信是好事(assume you are still in your mid-20s or early-20s)，但过度的自信对长期的事业发展有害无利

accounting的indicator来建模型,有些东西虽然很简单,但是如果不把finanical
accounting过一遍,呵呵..
另外就是programming skill, 当然不仅仅是c++. buyside面临的总是海量数据,有的问
题理论上很简单,但是具体做起来就不那么容易了.比如,用R 来算一个OLS很简单,但是
如果老板给的数据很大,R读不了,怎么办?
最后就是效率问题,你测一个模型的时间如果是别人的十倍,估计老板就要不爽了.
总之,buyside的quants其实要做好也不是很容易,简单的说就是要能把复杂的问题简单
化. |

不要着急， 绿卡后， 统计的工作还是比较多的。 不过建议你不要集中在big
companies。 这些公司拽的很， 基本喜欢找phd做master的活。应该找些mid size 的
，match 你background的统计分析师。同时要补充知识。data mining 应该好好学，
在统计里， 也可以说是predictive modeling。finanical service里， logistic
regression 和tree classification或segmentation analysis还是很有用的。我的体
会是招人单位还是比较喜欢你有全面的统计知识。 |
