发帖数: 43 | 1 现在我的FAP还剩个FA（Final Assessment），拖了很久（因结婚几次大搬迁没有继续
工作，之前在几个最大的pension consulting做了好几年，也想take a break），去年
底赶在module快过期之前做了一次FA，没过，当时想等今年开年后找个工作再在公司的
sponsor下重新注册把FA补上，结果发现怀孕准备生baby（两家人都盼着这个baby呢）
，就又改变计划等baby出生后再去上班和考试，谁知道SOA突然宣布从明年初（2012年1
月1号）开始要用新的大纲，调整FAP的阅读材料，FA也会不一样，但是在12／31／2011
之前就注册了FAP的Candidate不受这个变化的影响，仍然可以沿用旧的大纲，IA，FA也
还是基于旧的阅读材料。
请大家帮我看看我要不要赶在今年底12／31／2011之前重新注册FAP（$300）和买他的
FA（$500）,这样的话我自己要花800美元，但又可以有两年的时间做这个FA（我大概还
需要好几个月的时间生baby和恢复体力智力），而且都是一样的大纲，module 6，7，8

发帖数: 43 | 6 我想问题的关键是这800块值不得值得付，因为去年底我赶在我的FAP过期之前做FA已经
就是自己付FA的700块了，（IA倒是以前的公司付的，也一下就pass了），现在我已经
不上班有好长一段时间，又要付800啊... 所以很纠结。
的确在加州湾区找到83K的职位是可能，事实上我今年初找工作时看到的有些不太传统
的要ASA的职位，offer有100到150K。但我觉得那些是很少数，也不适合我，或者说不
太适合大多数的人。大多数的比较实际的intermediate的职位在6，7，8，9万之间。这
些年我在这些公司工作后的经验是Salary是和在公司的Rank： 职位级别高低相联系的
，而不是和过了多少考试，有个ASA会有帮助在公司上到高一些的级别，但我见到太多
过了很多考试，或者有ASA的人是公司初级或较低级别而低pay。
所以我纠结要不要自己再付这800是因为我明年再找工作时我已经过的考试就已经够了
，而且我如果在找到工作前完成FA，找到工作后要再拿Exam的Bonus或是pay raise应该
是要过了下一个考试后（比如FSA一个什么考试或Module），感觉是这样，各公司的

the EOMs using AO discussion as a guide. The only part that actually
requires reading is IA, but it only takes 3-4 days to read through
the material.
Here is why I think FAP is better than exams:
- EOM, IA and FA are definitely more practical than preliminary exam
questions. Having work related experience might help you on those.
- The passing rate of IA, FA is definitely higher than prelims.
- You are not pressured.

do you think $800 is that important for you? I guess it is less than half-
week base salary. according to most actuarial program I know, there is a
raise for FA passed. the earlier you pass FA (assuming you pass FA after
getting another offer), the earlier you get raised. |

首先确认你去的医院是否是是非营利性的，如果是非营利性医院，可以向社工要一份医
院的financial assistance policy（FAP）和FAP申请表。在华人比较多的地区还可以
向社工询问这个表格是否有中文版本的
填好表后连同相关的文件一起交还给医院相关部门（申请表上会明确列出），医院会进
行审核，并且在30天之内给与回复。不同的医院政策不太一样，但基本上financial
assistance都分为三档：病人必须支付的部分全免，病人必须支付的部分打折（一般在
60%－80%之间），完全不打折

另外再问问御姐，你说U of U的daycare就挺好的，学校那边提供了一个daycare网站，
我打了个电话，给我回来了一堆daycare的link（如下），我瞬间凌乱了，倒底那个是
真正的U of U 的呀？不过估计都得挨个打电话骚扰一遍……

If you want to burn $3,000+, you can do FAP before finishing the first 4.
Though most ppl will wait till they get a job so they don't have to pay it
out of their own pockets.
Is there any discount for FAP? I guess lots of exam takers in China will
stop after the first 4 exams. |

,效果怎么样,现在还不知道.不过降低难度,更贴近实际是大势所趋.

couple of thousands bucks 是不可能让你过了FAP MODULE的.平均的过FAP MODULE时
间是8个月.That means only a break between two CAS exams could not make you

COURSE1有STATS和MATHS，40道题，4个小时。 现在的P只有STATS了，30道题吧
COURSE 2 有，INTEREST，ECONOMICS，和CORPORATE FINANCE，40道题，4小时。 现在
FM只有 INTEREST 了，20道题？FINANCE，ECONOMICS 变VEE了
COURSE 3分LIFE CONTINGENCY和LOSSMODEL。40道题，4小时， 现在MLC只有 LIFE
CONTIENCY
COURSE 4 是LOSS MODEL，SIMULATION，TIME SERIES。现在的EXAM C是啥我就不知道了
，不过以前 4的一部份变VEE了
现在的MLE是以前的COURSE 2和6的一部份。
COURSE 5是ACTUARIAL PRACTICE，以前也是中国人PASS RATE最低的， 它和COURSE 7变
成了现在的FAP，没考试了，只做俩PROJECTS。
COURSE 6是INVESTMENT，现在挪到了 FSA LEVEL，在INVESTMENT TRACK
