广场正举办着露天演唱会，人头熙攘，歌声飘扬，给冬天寒冷的波士顿增添了一
点温暖的气氛。穿过一条街，就来到有“自由摇篮”之称的Faneuil Hall。独立
战争前夕的一些重要会议就是在此地举行。Faneuil Hall后是热闹非凡的Quincy
Market，长长的三座建筑及四周密布着商家，中间的主建筑里各色餐厅一字排开，
到处都挤满了顾客，很有点回到国内的亲切感。
这是回程时看到的Faneuil Hall夜景：
就在Faneuil Hall北面不远，矗立着六座玻璃方塔。这就是New England
Holocaust Memorial。走到近处，可以看到玻璃塔上密密麻麻刻满了数字，据说
有六百万之多，这些数字和六座玻璃塔一起，象征着二站中遇害的六百万犹太人。
一条黑色花岗岩路穿过这些玻璃塔，路边铭刻着一些Holocaust的冰凉数字和事
实。
Holocaust Memorial的气氛与边上的City Hall广场和Quincy Market形成了鲜明
对比：一边是生活的欢 |

Boston的地铁比纽约好得多，也没有臭臭的怪味。旅馆在MIT西头Charles
河畔。在MIT站下车，沿Main st和Vassar st步行穿过MIT，到达旅馆。途中在MIT校区
买了中餐盒饭，和MIT学生一样在草坪边上解决了午餐。还领略了EE楼的怪异。放下行
李后，沿Charles river步行，一直走回MIT东边地铁站。Charles river很漂亮，有些
小帆船，MIT的大主楼也比想象的要好。校园很安静，在外面活动的学生不多，大概是
因为weekday的下午。
然后坐地铁到Harvard，在Harvard yard消磨了一些时间，瞻仰John Harvard的雕像和
Harvard library。Harvard yard很漂亮。
坐地铁到Boston Common，走Freedom Trail从Boston Common到Faneuil Hall的一段。
这一段各种老建筑集中，而且是Downtown的中心。穿过Faneuil Hall，就是Quincy

了一圈，我不觉得冷，去之前，在Minneapolis从公司走到汽车站，距离差不多，明显
比波士顿冷。
我感恩节的时候去过一回纽约，倒不觉得Minneapolis比纽约冷多少。明州就是12、1、
2三个月明显冷，其它我不觉得多糟糕。有一年感恩节回洛杉矶，我倒觉得洛杉矶挺冷
的，按加州穿衣服的习惯穿的。 |

Common 和 public garden 中间的那条街上. 周末停车费整天十块还是十块出头.走去
Chinatown 吃饭很近. 然后可以逛 boston common, 对面的 public garden, 沿
freedom trail 去faneuil hall 或有力气走更远, 想做游览车鸭子船(duck tour) 附
近好象也有站. |

Boston Harbour停放和路过的各种各样的游船。附近可以买票做Boston Harbour游或者
whale watch.周围都是轻松hangout的地方。往西走就是Faneuil Hall Marketplace，

这个Tour非常值得参加。我们首先知道了Freedom Trail的来历：是因为Boston的这些
历史建筑和重要地点比较分散，于是就用一条路线把它们连接起来，命名为Freedom
Trail。我们沿着Freedom Trail慢慢的走，听每个建筑背后的故事，觉得比自己瞎逛照
