people died of famine. Dead bodies were dug out to be eaten. Hungry mobs
ambush the weak. Trees were bare (bark were peeled off for food). Grass
gone. Father wouldn't share food with son. Grandma cooked grandson for food

unreliable with data; and it fails to note that many of the horrors it
describes were recurrent features of Chinese history during the previous
century or so.

and Joel Colton, 3rd edition，该书858页写了大跃进，提到作物歉收，粮食供应不
足。原文如下
With successive years of crop failures and deficiencies, some of which were
caused by natural disasters, the government abandoned the communal program,
at least temporarily. 原文里没有提到任何大饥荒（famine），更没有提到任何大规
模饿死若干万人。
事实上，改革开放之前的任何严肃一点的国外历史书籍，应该都没有提到所谓饿死3000
万或者上千万人的。当然，如果有人看到有1978年前出版的历史书提到中国饿死3000万
，也可以贴出来。
以前我也找了一些1960年代美国中情局的机密文件，当然现在都解密了，同样也只字未

荒恐怖，却不顾这些事情曾在中国历史上多次重复。
