Does anyone know how to use localized strings in the table names? I have
set the default encoding of Adaptive Server to be "UTF-8" and "enable
unicode conversion" to be 2. I think the encoding of the server should be
UTF-8. But is there any easy utility in ASE that I can use to input localized
table names/field names/values? I tried "Sybase Central", but failed.
Thanks a lot.

My computer system's language is English, and I designed my crystal report in
english too. But when I want to print preview, the language is encoded (like
in IE we need to encode). But if I exported to PDF, i can view it in English.

Does the Teddy build 54 support UTF in SSH session? I know it is an old
build, however it is working fine for me and I am too lazy to update. (The
only known bug to me is that it does not support Hostname alias in static
DHCP table.)
I have configured puTTY to use UTF encoding, however my UTF files/folders on
the attached USB external hard drive are still not showing when SSH into

well, these are not traditional characters and it doesn't make sense, i'm

Even though you XP is English,
you might have already set Chinese as the default encoding,
Java checks that and shows Chinese messages.
Control Panel->Regional->Default Encoding...

Or say, I want the string internal memory block, I do not want any encoding

If you need to encode your string in UTF-8, use
String.getBytes("UTF-8") and you'll get it.
String.getBytes(charset) does encoding
new String(bytes, charset) does decoding
I saved a JSP file with an external text editor (Notepad++)
as UTF-8 with BOM. Eclipse reads it fine after I set in
project properties, resource, source file encoding as UTF-8.
However, when I try to save, I get an error:
"Save could not be completed.
Reason:
Some characters cannot be mapped using "ISO-8859-1" charater
encoding ..."

use gb2312 or gb18030 as locale, not utf-8 since most rar from windows is
using gb2312 for chinese name
or if somebody could write a script to automatically determine encoding on
filename then convmv to correct encoding
