乔·迪马乔（Joe DiMaggio）在梦露（Marilyn Monroe）召开记者会宣布1954年1月结婚的两人结束9个月婚姻后，写了这封信给梦露。朱力安拍卖公司（Julien'sAuctions）并未披露买家。
大联盟生涯都效力纽约洋基（Yankees）的乔·迪马乔，是棒球名人堂成员。他并不想与梦露离婚，在信中请梦露再考虑，还说这封信“让他心碎”。
