iphone上给AI专用的芯片 还有一众startup要做deep learning的hardware
想想自己当了几年硅工 当一个螺丝钉画电路layout也看不到什么前途
这个deep learning的应用倒是给了硬件工程师一丝机会
但我也不知道怎么才能转过去呢 相比较用deep learning做application 给deep
learning做hardware infrastructure的opening还是很少
最近在coursera上上课 想了解下相关方向的知识 但是大部分课程说的都是怎么实用
deep learning的算法来做application
做deep learning的硬件需要什么技能呢？deep learning的硬件跟普通的CPU GPU又有

Network要少得多。这是因为Deep Network具有强大的表达能力。假设一个DL有L层，每
层有N个节点。他的参数只有LN个。但是同样表达能力的Shallow Network需要N^L个节
点。这意味着训练数据量是O(LN)。这点类似于与或门电路。一个3层的电路(A+B)*(C+D
)*(E+F)展开有2^3＝8项。L层的电路（每层N个或门）展开有N^L项。
Deep Network训练的问题是它的目标函数是一个复杂的非线性函数，有很多局部最优点
，但不是全剧最优。所以用Gradient Decent更新参数的时候，很容易陷入局部最优点
出不来。而且越靠近网络前端的参数的导数越小，所以前几层收敛非常慢。Deep
Learning提出用unsupervised learning的方法先初始化网络参数，然后再用
supervised learning调节参数，使之收敛。这其中的思想是，我们先用unsupervised

现实当中绝大多数分类问题，logistic regression和SVM比deep learning效果更好速
度更快。deep learning只有在超高维的数据，比如图像，声音，和具有海量训练数据
的情况下，才有极微弱的优势战胜logistic regression和SVM。工业应用当中，
feature engineering是最能决定精度的，而不是分类算法。如何做feature是主要问题
，而不是选择什么分类算法。
现实当中很多重要的问题，例如医学生物，训练出一个分类器，只是得到一个基于临床
数据的猜想。专业人员还要对学习出来的coefficient和feature进行专门的隔离和病理
分析验证，最后才能得到可靠的结论。deep learning中间太多层了，所以logistic
regression和SVM更方便一些。
此外，在deep learning吹大之前就有很多基于监督的高维数据的降维和feature

这个周末去洗牙，医生说我有轻微的牙周炎，拍了全口的牙片，说有牙周炎的地方骨头
有轻微被侵蚀的现象，相对其他的牙齿，骨头少了一些。如果不管，以后会越来越严重
，然后骨头会越来越少，牙齿就掉了。。。。。。。。
说保守治疗的方法是先做deep clean,然后不行，再去Gum specialist那里做检查医治
。说的我怕怕的。
我是坚持每半年洗牙一次的，平时也挺保护牙齿的，说起来我的牙齿也挺好的，从小到
大补牙就两次，都是非常轻微的时候补的，所以还从来没受过牙痛的痛苦。
我以为一般人做了一次deep clean，以后常规clean就可以了。我是害怕美国这过分医
治，过犹不及。大家给我点建议，我是否应该再次去做deep clean。 |

打麻药还挺疼的。然后接下来的rutine dental visit都只是做regular的洁牙而已。然
后现在换了个地方，重新找了个牙医，第一次visit就说我需要做deep cleaning，而且
还说deep cleaning只需要做一回（分两次做）。我就说我已经做过了，然后牙医就问
我之后有没有做消炎，当时的牙医并没有要求。所以新的牙医就坚持说目前的情况需要
再做。
请问有没有mm有经验啊？我是真不愿意再受一回罪了，可是又担心确实需要的话不做耽
误了治疗。
有一点，到了这个新的牙医这里，他们要给我做全牙X-Ray，我说了不做，两年前刚做
过。感觉他们有点小不爽。然后如果我做deep cleaning的话，做之前就必须做全口的X
-Ray。
BTW，大家一定要定期看牙医，防患于未然。 |

一个星期。没有造成任何牙齿变色，但是觉得味道不是很好。
我做过deep cleaning。现在好多了，我很高兴我做了。
以前，我从来不洗牙。我在中国的亲戚是牙医, 告诉我我有一口好牙. 但我不知道,其
实我的牙齿有严重问题，有口臭和出血。我感谢我接受美国教育的中国同胞牙医,她让
我意识到我的牙齿有巨大问题。
原来,我的牙齿出血了率大约30％, deep cleaning后，出血减少到15％左右，再经过常
规清洗，（每隔3至4个月一次），现在几乎没有出血。在我的情况下，牙医告诉我，如
果我的牙齿未经治疗, 最终导致牙齿脱落。
如果牙医认为有必要，我会强烈建议deep cleaning。 |

般的cleaning则每半年或者一年一次。如果牙医的技术不好，或者不负责任，那么Deep
Cleaning有可能导致部分牙齿牙龈萎缩。因此找到好的牙医很重要。还有就是做完
Deep Cleaning后，平时要注意口腔卫生，每天至少刷牙三次（中饭后不能少）。晚上
一定要用牙线。 |

冠我没意见，deep clean 怕怕地说， 就一直拖着。刚接到牙医电话，要预约洗牙。打
算7月回国，可以在国内洗好了回来再装crown呢，还是就再这边做deep clean呢？
听说过一些deep clean 的惨痛经历，有做的好的吗？

先开车到Bowen Ranch（34.363631, -117.162044），GPS可能带你走些不好走的路，
最好是15号从北侧入山，主路Roundup Way转Bowens Ranch Road，Bowen Ranch需要停
车付过路费，可以拿一张地图，继续往前约1英哩开到停车场停车，该段山路满陡的，
而且要走很长一段没有铺柏油的路。然后步行约来回3.6英哩爬升700英尺约1小时多，
去时下坡回程上坡，是峡谷旁陡峭小路，谷地是大岩石围绕的天然水池，沿途没有遮
荫，需穿过河流，曾经有轮胎两头系绳当小船，但后来失去轮胎，要直接涉水而过，
水很冷大概到腰部，可以找个地方跳石头过去，步道有分岔，左侧看到温泉感觉近但

对这个很感兴趣。读了几篇相关的文章和screening,前面的library--infection--drug
screening--genomic DNA extraction都懂。后面的deep sequencing部分就糊涂了。
理论上讲，resistant的细胞一定是有基因改变了的，我一直以为挑单克隆，一个一个
去作整个genome测序。仔细读了文章，是药物筛选几天后，细胞pool一起，再作deep
sequence；对照没有drug筛选（Non-resistant)的组，找出那些被CRISPR改变了的gene
，再确认。
几个问题：
1。这个deep sequencing是测（整个）genomic DNA，还是测留下来的guide sequence
（在lentiviral vector上面）？
2。可以测mRNA/cDNA序列来代替genomic DNA吗？突变的基因总该表现在mRNA上（先不
考虑其他类型的RNA）。

deep learning被阿发狗炒作开后，大家纷纷开始挖掘大数据/人工智能里的宝藏。这个
市场灰常大，不只是狗脸英等social需要，一般大企业，大咨询公司，银行，政府都可
以搭建类似deep learning平台。
早在五年前，某弯曲名校的某华裔教授发现了GPU特别适合做deep learning... 只是近
来被阿发狗，还有tesla selfdriving这样的明星公司一炒作，GPU焕发了人生第二春。
看看NV的财报就知道了。不过很难说是不是泡泡，因为他赖以生存的上层建筑都是泡泡
。。。GPU功耗不小，限制了他的应用范围。狗家找了个chip startup专门做deep
learning的优化芯片。
倒是楼主把手机里的GPU和workstation上的GPU相提并论，不知是真懂还是文科生冒充
