About 20 years ago (when I was pretty young), I contracted cancer. I was
doing seriously long stints in the darkroom for about the 10 years prior. I
always had trouble with asthma and breathing fixer. I cannot correlate the
darkroom work with the cancer, but every single other photographer friend,
except one (and he didn't do that much work) had cancer around that time (
and even battling it now).

我感觉各个大学只要像样点的，都会有几个比较好的darkroom
我没想到我们学校的darkroom这么好，以前一直没用，亏了 |

with good lense or digital tool you can imitate what Ansel has done. Zhou Mi
has some good practices in this sense, though he has mastery of traditional
darkroom techniques as well. |

have the V700 (a top of the line model) and two V500's that I use for slide
scanning. The results are terrific. I find that I use the V500 more than
the V700 unless I'm doing a large scanning project. The V700 can handle 12
slides at one time whereas the V500 can do just 4 slides at one time. Still
, its a great buy for just $100. And I've yet to get anything from the

of "庄家", or "MM", or "hedge funds" who somehow sits back in a darkroom,
manipulates the market and profited from all market activities at the
expense of retail traders.
That's just total BS. Yes, sometimes "庄家" wins, sometimes the "MM", and
sometimes "hedge funds" wins, but just as often they get caught on the wrong
side too and the smaller traders came out ahead.

一些补充,
film:几乎什么型号和牌子都可以用,如果你认识的人最近回国
甚至可以给你带点乐凯的,乐凯的好处是胶片盒可以再用来缠bulk
film.
我没有用过TMax400,但我用过TMax100感觉很好.
film developer: D76
便宜,效果很好,几乎可以胜任所有常用的film.
Stop Bath: water :-)
Paper: 参看前面的讨论吧,我也不是很sure. 最好是RC
Paper developer: Dektol = D72 (zzzw)
Fixer: Kodak Fixer
其实我也没有用过别的,只是觉得这些又便宜又能满足要求.
另外,我当初洗的照片到现在有好几张发黄的,不知道是我
fix的不够(我有时候很心急)还是用水代替停显液造成的.

一些补充,
to keep the strength of fixer, you should use stop bath
for prints between developer and fixer, for film maybe no need.
photoflo is helpful when drying films, but the concentration should
be small, usually 1:300 is good. after you've washed your developed
film enough, put it in to the photoflo for 30 seconds, then take it
out, dip a piece of sponge into water then take it out and squeeze
it to dry, then gently wipe the water off with the sponge, then you
can hang the fi |

a lot by looking at the two person through the window, but it seems I didn't
convey my feeling through the picture well.
This is just a so so picture, first the negative is not great due to the
lighting condition, as people usually say "you can get a bad print from a
good negative, but you can never get a good print from a bad negative."
I want to print this one for two reasons, first to practice darkroom skill

This is "planned PS", something one have planned when he takes the
picture. Personally I consider it part of the stage of "taking the
picture", it is not really post processing which most people do.
Adams' zone system takes the actual light condition, the character of the
film and the character of the paper, and the system tells you how to place
which part to which zone, so things are planned from the beginning based

鉴于FM本人从来不回我给他发的关于unsubscribe的PM，我也就没管FM保护费的事情。
巧的是原来交保护费的信用卡expire了，于是我总是收到Digital Darkroom Inc （负
责替FM收保护费的公司）自动发来的email，让我换一张卡交保护费。连续发了几次
email之后，最后他们不再发了，给了个链接，说以后不催我了，要交就自己去那个链
接交就行了。
于是，从那以后我就一直处于免交保护费使用FM的状态。
总结一下，就是改变你原来交保护费的那张卡（cancel，expire, or whatever...),就
可以不用续交保护费了。
虽然FM不回PM的做法很不professional，但是大家该交保护费的还是老实交吧。

Ilfochrome虽然已经是很成熟的制程，没有什么艺术发挥的余地，但我仍然把它化为后
期之列
对于黑白摄影，很大一部分乐趣其实都在darkroom里面。虽然我技术有限，但还是乐在
其中。所以也理解过去为什么有很多大师也花很多时间在暗室里。 |
