extra
curricular activities。Art和sports都很少，language都不教，而另外一个学校
activities非常全。
诚问各位有经验的父母，public学校的extra curricular activities重要吗？还是这
些其实也
都是爸妈课后送外面去学的？

最近我本来想通过申请CPT先找实习。但是学校通知说，因为CPT最近改革了，intern必
须是required的课程才可以申请CPT。不然的话，intern 是elective 的课程，是不可
以用来申请CPT。我觉得很不可思议。

来惭愧，我自己在孩子身上没下太多功夫。比如这次写essay,early action的essay我
只是大概看了一下，一点都没改。Early action的MIT的essay我是到交上去才看得。看
完了觉得写得不太好，不过已经没法改了。而且她给她的college counselor 看过了，
后者所没啥问题。后来MIT EA 被defer了我才认真地帮她看了其它学校的申请essay.
她其实也不是很认真的人。有两个小插曲，一个是她申请的时候common application的
Social Security number都填错了，以至于现在Harvard的financial aid都没搞定。还
有一个是申请材料差点没有及时交上去。所有申请是通过一个commonapp.org的网站提
交的。她先把材料填好，我检查一遍，然后我用信用卡付申请费，付完了还要回到另一
页submit才算完成。她只叫我付费，我付完了以为就行了（缺了最后一步），她也没来

平高，每年基本都是州里的前三名，她要到其它学校可能能进Varsity。不过这个对大
学申请去觉得影响不大。
体育方面，这个是需要天生的才能的，我觉得没有办法强求。但不能什么也没有。她是
因为实在没有啥别的才跑cross country的。当然这个比较辛苦。另一个也被哈佛录取
的女孩玩的是soccer，她参加了一个当地的俱乐部，在俱乐部的球队里踢球。她们也有
同学玩击剑，还有练跆拳道, larcross的。另外还有练划船的，据说藤校很多有赛艇队
，如果有这个才能也能起作用。
在大学申请材料里，基本上只有两个地方可以写你的体育特长，一个是common app (这
部分是申请所有学校都要填的）extracurricular部分，你可以写up to 10 items. 每
