过了Syracuse，NYU等不少学校的deadline。因为想毕业后能在纽约找到工作，她不知
道CUNY的就业情况怎样，是先接受CUNY的accptance呢，等过来以后转校到Syracuse和
NYU或者Columbia，还是在CUNY一直读下去，因为学费实在便宜很多。
文科我也不太了解，想上来听听大家的意见，主要就是CUNY和Syracuse,NYU等其它名校
，在将来找工作的时候会不会更困难一些，还是某些公司只要固定名校的毕业生。 |

写作，没有任何会议需要出席。对于数学家马修·戈尔茨坦（Matthew Goldstein）--
一名今夏即将卸任的纽约市立大学（CUNY）的校长--来说，还有额外的福利：一笔49万
的年薪，和他在任时的年薪一样多。
据《纽约时报》报道，在他的12个月研究之后，他将有5个月的休假--他14年来积
累的未休的病假，在此期间，报酬不变。然后，他将重返工作岗位，任为期五年的名誉
校长，年薪30万美元。
CUNY受托人已一致批准了这个退休大礼包，他们欢呼戈尔茨坦博士是一名“真正的

CUNY 是 City University of New York的缩写
在CUNY 旗下一共有23个不同的community Colleges, 四年制大学还有CUNY-Graduate C
enter （most of phd programs）
你这个link是CUNY旗下以商科一类为主的四年制大学 Baruch College。此学校位于man
hattan 东边 23街， 6 train 可到达，Baruch 帅哥美女比较多。哈哈。
去年有个cornell University的朋友申请这个prgoram 被拒了！ 然后他就留在Cornell
读他的MFE， 不过好像 Cornell的MFE也是在manhattan downtown上课，不需要去纽约
上州Ithaca的主校区， 所以 相对之下 social networking还是比较容易。
由于Baruch College是公立大学，在NYC地区的口碑都还不错。 如果你离开NYC 也许好
多人，肯定是很多人都不知道Baruch College。 正是由于Baruch College是公立大学，

city college是全美第一所公立高等学府。City College & Hunter 现在有独立的 Ph.
D. program，不需要经过 Graduate Center. 不过CUNY旗下是有一些算社区大学，两年
制。
由于地理优势，进CUNY做发考题跟好多 major state university 难度相当。Tenure
的要求也越来越高。社区大学主要是教学为主，一学期四门课，你要英文不好，或是不
会讲故事，活跃课堂是很难在这种社区学院生存的。 |

CCNY 这样一个 college 就出9个诺贝尔奖的学院。这跟中西部大学城的大学不一样，
后者比较单一，就是清一色的中上阶层，贫富悬殊不大。
所以选CUNY的program要多留心，可能选到很差的program，也可能去到top program。 |

【侨报纽约网报道】纽约市前主计长、市长候选人汤信（Bill Thompson）为即将
到来的初选做最后的努力。9月5日，汤信加紧推进其教育议程，提议纽约市立大学（
CUNY）免去新生第一年的学费。
根据纽约电视一台报道，汤信周四前往哈林与其他教育专家探讨纽约市立大学“首
年免学费计划”（First Year Free Plan）。该项目旨在为纽约市立大学第一年入学的
新生提供免费教育。
他表示：“不像我的一些竞争对手的虚假提议，我提议通过挪用市政府发放出租车
经营牌照的一部分新增收入，为该教育计划买单。出租车经营牌照是由市政府控制发放
的，换言之，我将不需要请求州政府提高税率来筹集资金。”
根据汤信的提议，平均分为B及以上的学生就有资格免除在市立大学第一年的学费
