Don’t pay more than 10 percent or $1,000, whichever is less, as a down
payment. There is an exception for about two dozen licensees who carry
special bonds to protect consumers. These exceptions are noted on CSLB’s

to deal with it in American way. Its illegal in CA to contract work more
than $500 without a license. go to http://www.cslb.ca.gov for more information:
"# First time offenses for contracting without a license are usually a
misdemeanor, carrying a potential sentence of up to six months in jail and/
or a $500 fine, along with a potential administrative fine of $200 to $15,
000.

illegal for the unlicensed contractor to work on your kitchen remodel if the
whole job is over $500. http://www.cslb.ca.gov/Consumers/FilingAComplaint/
If you threat the contractor for a sue or complaint, he may find a way to
fix things for you as he may want to avoid the big trouble.
The big lesson is: NEVER pay in full before you are pleased with the job.

如果下一次再有超过1000刀的装修，签合同前，有必要要求contractor 提供给你一份
执照和保险的copy,而且这是很合理的。如果现在有contractor 的 liability
insurance 或者是Contractor's Bond(看不同的州).

卫生间,加上换楼上的地板(900 sqft)和刷墙,师傅估计labor要1.7w左右吧.然后问师傅
合同的事情,这个师傅说如果找他要license number和公司的insurance的话价钱就要高
不少(可能要再贵个万把块钱?)。还说即使给我license但是签的合同不是按照
Contractors State License Board (CSLB)合同签的都是不合法的，请问是这样的么？

situations like that, you can certainly try help out with RA works. You have
to start somewhere. Not sure about the native and foreigner arguments. I
have dealt with many RA people from small start up to big ones as Sanofi,
CSLB, Baxter and so on. I find in big firms,there are many foreigners doing
RA. There are also Chinese with so so English as director in RA in
multinational big pharma.

operate outside of the 8-5/6pm, or on Sunday, u can call the police.
u can also check and see if they have permit for the work with city building
dept and check and see if the contractor is licensed by checking with CSLB.
u can do these over web/phone. if the violate these, they will be in
trouble and you can get some rest.
in case of desperation, see if they operate safely, and report to Cal/OSHA,
