My roof is not that steep but still it is quite slippery. so I usually have

一层skirt保护地基的cripple wall.
code规定perimeter foundation或者concrete slab一定要高出地面，如果老房子没有
高出地面，加concrete skirt可以保护地基。另外，如果房子drainage不好，房子周围
铺一圈有坡度的水泥可以帮助排水并且更干净，也比土地好看。不过后一种情况，我更
倾向铺paver。
你说的对，没有问题就没有必要。当然如果是为了追求美观和方便走路，就是另一个问
题了，土地是最脏的了，尤其是下雨后。我们家房子四周是一面水泥，两面paver，后

问题找了fundation inspector来看，我顺便说地面不平，结果人家笑了，说在我们这
个地区你根本找不到地面平的房子。我们这里房子大都是二十年代到五十年代的房子，
房子多多少少都有不同的沉降。因为fundation的问题，一个inspector建议房子一侧的
fundation重建，说的有鼻子有眼。后来又找了一个，说扯蛋，根本没有必要重建
fundation,主要问题是drainage的问题，因为cripple wall的sill plate有损害，都是
drainage的问题。事后他给我说我的fundation在这个年龄的房子来看算是非常好的。
他建议我bolt一下fundation,防止地震，但是这个只是建议，不是一定要作，可作可不
作。后来我请他们bolt了一下，顺便把外墙fundation的一个垂直裂缝也修了加固一下
，他们说支撑外墙的fundation裂缝要引起重视。 我还坚决要求某个地方损害的sill也

少走动，多坐着看电视。但是上个厕所啥的，都是拄着拐杖自己走去的，因为老人自己
