朋友的儿子现在在国内华东理工大学读电气工程及自动化本科三年级，马上有机会华东
理工和university of Missouri at Columbia联合培养的项目的名额。这个项目是华东
理工念三年以后，在university of Missouri at Columbia读两年，算华东理工的本科
和University of Missouri的硕士。不过美国部分的生活费学费自己出，人民币45万左
右. 在美国university of missouri 是读Electrical and Computer Engineering. 这
学校硕士出来好找工作么？
工薪阶层，所以想问问值不值得自费念 |

年初的时候，TNF的3in1.原价400+那件打折到250？？？在6pm上。去晚了，没号
所以 wind/water proof+600fill down一体，人们都说,tnf的outlet基本每年半价
columbia可以再便宜一点。我主要是几年也不去一次outlet,赶不上。
自然对eddie价位的预期，就会更低。毕竟eddie没店。品牌覆盖率低的，不是应该更便
宜吗？
可eddie原价比tnf,columbia高诶，那相同折扣，岂不是很不合适？？

如果你那里有Bonton系列店，columbia打折比较多。
Dick's 里columbia打折也比较多。
TNF基本不怎么打折的，可以去outlet看看

定那种，但是LD估计还得再干个3-5年至少。年收入两人加起来税前13w吧。
目前租住在Columbia Mall旁边，equal commute。现在所有local的亲戚朋友都劝买，
确实我们也差不多需要一个大一点的地方了。请MDrealtor还有熟悉Howard Co的朋友指
点我一下，看看我们的想法有什么问题没有。
想法：
1. 准备买2-3br，2ba的town house。因为预算也就顶多30w吧，估计除了forclosure的
，啥single family都买不起。
2. 还是准备在Columbia/Clarksville/Ellicott City (南面）附近买，学区需要考虑
么（目前还没娃）？
3.希望通勤方便点，靠近那几个park and ride也可以。 （brokenland pwy/snowden
river pwy/columbia mall）。
4. resource，我就只知道redfin，zillow和tulia，但是学区啊啥的怎么看呢？

其实我是最近才知道的这学校的ranking
我第一任正牌男友就是Columbia本科和硕士毕业，那时候我刚来美国，完全没有头绪，
一直以为Columbia落入末日的感觉，那时候我脑子只有哈佛MIT，对Stanford我都一无
所知。
这位男友的特点如下：
1，从来没有告诉过我这学校是 top 1，和yale,princeton的本科教育齐名。
2. 写字从来没错过
3.一口纯正的英文，我的女同学没有一个从电话里听出他是中国人的，那时候大家
share电话，每次接电话都告我，有个美国人找你。
4. 从来不换公司，不换组，
5.每年都拿award，有公司的，有本市的，也有州的
6.从来没出过车祸，一次违规也没有
7，有一次聊天无意中说起了我的本科成绩的GPA，他才告诉我，他是4.0，全A，没有一
门B

又是一个选校问题，估计有一些同学可能也有一样的情况。。。希望大家能畅所欲言，
在这里先谢过了:)
都是Master Degree
Cornell是一年的 Applied OR . 夏天有Intern。此外据说Cornell OR排名还TOP3。虽
然无法验证该说法来源。。此外该Program选课自由度非常大。。校园里面也会有一些
招聘什么的貌似还好。但学校地点仍然是个问题。
Columbia优势无非是所谓名声，和近水楼台的效应。此外那个Engineering Management
Science的项目和工作内容可能更契合一些。但据说AD发多了总有水的嫌疑。。这个我
也稍微查过了。。Columbia硕士学生不少大陆的。Cornell相比就很少。。虽然不能直
接说明什么问题。但是否imply啥呢...
此外，据说OR相关今年就业都不好，H1B签证也被不少公司拒签。如果如此的话一年后
毕业还真是个问题。。。

415即将来临，手握一堆AD，不好抉择。
自费是肯定的了，羡慕那些有Offers的，爽啊。
目前在众AD中，有两个比较有意向。
Applied Mathematics@Columbia，
Mathematical Finance @Rutgers。
自己不知如何选择，就把相关信息写上，大家有啥看法的，尽管水。
Applied Mathematics @ Columbia
好处
1.是在Fu Foundation School of Engineering下面的
2.学数学为主，还必须选OR或者CS的课，OR下面还有鼎鼎有名的MFE（Master of
Financial Engineering）
3.有转专业的可能，就是OR或者FE
4.学校名气好，可以认识些牛人
5.地理位置好，逛街方便
缺点
1.贵
2.数学啊...找工作不是特好，而且，这个系的排名没有哥大的综合排名那么高
3.有可能转不了专业
4.毕业后留下来PhD，it's impossible
5.哥大的PhD都很强，MS有可能被鄙视

学校的program都有吸引我的地方（另两个学校的也不错，只是综合排名比较低），不
知道选哪个好，请各位前辈指点一二，不甚感激！
就我自己搜集的信息来看，yale的优势在于招的人数少，和教授的Interaction比较多
一些，research做的比较深入。不知道为何yale的MPH排名并不高，2011是11名。而
columbia的优势在于有一些比较新颖的research方向，faculty人数超多，感觉比较重
视综合素质的培养，已经毕业的校友人数多对日后找工作也会有些积极的影响。
columbia去年MPH的排名是4. 具体的地理位置来讲都不怎么样，yale所在的New haven
对我来说更加恐怖些。
不知道真实的情况是怎样，哪个学校毕业的MPH更加受到认可呢？希望过来人能帮帮忙

我申请了Columbia Math in Finance(in Math department), NYU Master of
Financial Math and CMU MSCF. 我申请的是part-time program. 他们都给admission
了。我希望能参考一下各位牛人的意见，做一个理智的选择。我有一个应用数学的硕士
。我想念完这个program,将来能向trading上靠一靠。
1。弱弱的问一下，各位认为现在还有必要再花钱读吗？Columbia 最便宜，也要$40k.
NYU 要$50k. CMU 要$80k. 我虽然工作了几年，但是出这末多钱还是有些吃力，尤其是
CMU.
2. 我比较了一下他们的课程。我个人认为（很有可能是错的）Columbia的课程有些单
一。我周围的人对它的评价似乎不是特别好。NYU的课程似乎很数学。其中有几门还是
我挺感兴趣的。比如说optimzation和PDE。CMU的课程看起来好像很广，cover了很多
finance上 |

以上哈,可以交流的那种,男孩女孩都可以,女孩最好~~),喜欢和小孩子一起玩,画画,讲
故事,做游戏...这段时间在家闲来无事,呵呵,看看网上有没有姐妹家有小孩子需要白天
照顾一下或者辅导学习的,互惠互利哈.
