凤姐呢？大家都知道在美国。在美国怎么样？除了她的微博，大多数人无从得知。5月14日，纽约时报中文网采访了凤姐，本意是调查美国纽约美甲沙龙工人的生存境况，但显然凤姐说得远不止这些。
在介绍完自己在纽约美甲业的工作经历后，凤姐谈起了自己对“美国梦”的看法。她说美国梦是自由平等，她到美国就是奔着自由女神去的，但同时她又说自己在工作中受到了严重的种族歧视。
说起离开中国的原因，凤姐说“因为中国是一个人情社会，而我最不擅长与人交往，所以我在那里呆不下去。而美国是一个商业帝国，它犹如磁铁一样吸引着我。”但很快在另一个话题中她又对美国社会中的人情坦然接受。罗玉凤说，“韩国老板优先信任及聘用韩国籍美甲师是普遍现象，而且信任他们，我觉得这是很正常的现象，老乡帮老乡嘛。韩裔美甲师是纽约美甲界的一等公民。”
在美国从事了四年美甲，凤姐自认为在美甲店比在中国好，但她没有忘记自己成为华尔街金融家的梦想，如今，凤姐不做美甲了。做什么？她也不愿说。

I've lived in Beijing and Shanghai both for more than 5 years so I can say
with authority that in general the Beijing people are far nicer, friendlier
and with a much better sense of humour. They're also far less obsessed with
money. For lots of Shanghainese, money is the only topic they have any
opinions about.
