大家所说的丘成桐的这个批评我是一无所知。今天早晨我才拿到这个关于丘成桐批评的资
料。给你们先简单介绍一下丘成桐。丘成桐是加州Berkeley大学的学生。当年陈省身先生
访问香港，在香港的一个外国教授跟陈先生介绍说丘成桐是个不错的学生，那时丘刚念完
大二。陈先生回来就和我讲，看来这个人不错，我说那不简单吗，把他请到Berkeley来作
研究生。所以他大二刚念完我们就给了他一个奖学金，他就到Berkeley来念书了。他做数
学是很努力很用功的，陈先生对他也有很多照顾。因为我有先前的经验，知道丘成桐的话
常常是蛮横而不公平的，所以丘的言论我是一概置之不理的。我今天很吃惊，有这么多人
为了丘成桐的话跑来问我，这里挤得还水泄不通，这对我来讲是很吃惊的一件（笑）。我
们应有的基本态度是，当一些人，对你或者你所在的北大，或者是你所认识的人做一些批

数学系教授、美国人文与科学院院士张寿武。另一位就是主讲人张益唐，一位来自新罕
布什尔大学的讲师。
“学术午餐报告会”（Colloquium Lunch）是普林斯顿数学系的传统，相当于一种
非正式而特殊的荣誉。老教授约翰·纳什1994年获得诺贝尔经济学奖以后，另一位教授
安德鲁·怀尔斯1995年攻克数学史上著名的费马大定理以后，系里给他们主办过同样的
活动。如今，破译“孪生素数猜想”的张益唐登场了。

topic，做一下介绍。
如果是作为PHD课程的继续，也是很好的，不过要求提出问题方多给出一些follow up，
这样不会搁置太多的open topic. |

Period. I greatly respect this field and please do not misinterpret it.
Talking about theories, I even do not buy a lot of ideas that 'conventional'
condensed matter physists threw out. So it is really unnecessary to be
pissed.
In the end, may I humbly ask if condensed matter thoery will boost the
development of string theory because of the universality of every thing?

presentation，没想到来四十多个人，我记得以前去参见类似的 colloquium 的时候，
也就两三个人，吃不完的东西还能打包带回家吃，我那次，等我做完 presentation，
