The employer has 30 days to notify your insurance of your termination. Then
the insurance carrier has 14 days to send you the COBRA paperwork and you
will have 60 days to elect or waive the coverage. The premium payment must
be sent within 45 days of the election. Since the employer is not longer
contributing to the premium, you will have to pay the entire amount plus 2%
(or so) for administrative costs.

有几个基本问题请教下：
1. Cobra是从10/1以后的60天内决定是否加入，如果加入，那要在45天内补齐从10/1到
那个时候的premium,这样coverage才会从10/1回溯起，不间断，对吗？
2. Obamacare也是这样的，从10/1开始有60天的grace period，也同样可以补齐从10/1
到决定加入Obamacare那天起的premium，从而使coverage才会从10/1回溯起，不间断，
对吗？
因为有慢性病，所以不想coverage中断，一中断就算pre-existing condition，那看病
就贵。
有没谁有建议，还会有更合算的保险吗?

没有corkage fee。酒店没酒证， 但每张table上都有酒， 忘带的话隔壁就是个卖酒的
小商店，价钱还挺公道的。 我们点了５种，每一个味道都很棒，特别推荐bacon wrap
date 或 bacon wrap prawn, paella 和sweet potato fries。 dessert点churro
with chocolate.

GolfDigest 2007 Jan issue has a complete list of the golf equipments -
driver, fairywood, iron, putter and balls.
The both get Golden awards, and are highly recommened. Obviously $500 beats
the $700. I would say.

不能把车架改一下，他好进口到美国装上一台大排量V8，AC说可以。Shelby先联系了
Chevy，人家不理他，后来Ford说你可以用我们的V8，这么着就有了V8版的Cobra。
Shelby就成立个改装厂，也就是后来的Shelby，打算做这种生意。后来Ford和AC都对这
个改装项目发生了兴趣，AC设计Cobra Mk III时，就和Ford合作，车架一开始就是为
Ford 427 V8搞的。出来的车在美国以外还是AC Cobra 427，到了美国则经常以Shelby
Cobra 427出现，所以很多人以为Cobra本来就是Shelby的车……
Cobra当时不是很成功，Cobra 427 65年上市，到67年就退出美国市场了，连上Cobra
289等其它车型，貌似总共才生产了1000辆左右，后来逐渐成了老爷跑车市场的神车，
直到现在还有无数小车厂做replica……

我原来看到at expense of participant理解成虽然加入cobra但还是自己付钱（我原来
以为医疗费，还不知道“保费”一说，你后来指出自己付 100%premium），以及你说的
如果只需要几百刀看病，还得自己出钱，所以说加入这个也没什么好处（不能帮付一分
钱），可能只是需要费用非常昂贵的时候保险才付deductible以外的部分吧
现在的打算是尽量扛着，等新保险再说吧。。。

我前面的意思是，你家的premium很可能上千刀。如果看病只需要几百刀，你就不值得
买COBRA了。

作的时候，单位都是用一个比较低廉的价格买到保险的，如果你以个人身份去购买，会
高很多。cobra就是让你可以用你现在单位拿到的低廉价格去续买一段时间的保险。
没有人可以强迫你选择cobra的。cobra只是美国政府给离职员工的一项福利而已，大部
分正规公司都必须提供cobra eligibility给自己的雇员，但是你到时候可以选择使用
或者放弃。

也就是说如果万一你在11月1号跟着老公的保险生效之前生了宝宝，然后填cobra申请也
可以。不过不知道是不是要自己先pay，然后找cobra reimburse了。。。
我跟你情况类似，中间有一个月木有保险，学校的说cobra可以稍候等它寄过来表格再
申请，我算了算，没有保险的那个月就只有一个大B超和一个check up，自己付的话比
cobra的月费还便宜……后来收到cobra表格后也就没申请 |

不过他年纪还比较年轻，就算没有政府补贴，本来保险费就不应该太贵吧。按原来的，
个人根本就很难买保险，所以他现在还是在用上家大公司的 cobra。
我的前老板也去了一家小公司，是VP，也是在用前公司的 cobra, 当然只能用18个月。
他原来说只好用一天算一天了。那家公司国内人不少，这边的site只有10个人。公司根
本花不起钱给他们买保险。所以现在都是让他们用 cobra, 比如我老板的 cobra 费用
是全家一个月2千多，公司就是把这个钱直接给所有美国员工报销了。我老板是40多岁
，他老婆还比他小不少。他明年可以买O8Care啦，肯定是白金最高档，这样公司每个月
给他报销的钱还是比以前少。何况到今年年底，我老板的 cobra 已经用了15个月了，
好危险，差点过期了。:P |

kickpoint.
我reshaft的cobra m-speed 9 degree with adilva 65g shaft，我感觉不是很好，可
能还是shaft的缘故，所以上次在shadown glen我的开球距离变化很大。
上周日我把这个taylormade从库房里取出，去球场肩并肩的比较了cobra的球杆，感觉
明显好很多.
就距离而言，第一洞423码，球超过150码，有280码的距离，而且还是顶峰；cobra的
driver和它相似的距离。
第2洞5杆洞， 508码，球落点不好，但还是有250码的carry distance， 顶风。
最明显的是后面几个洞，即使都似乎slice，taylormade还能超过cobra的距离。
所以，cobra彻底下岗了。 |

。都不说税的损失，就说保费吧，应该是可以和COBRA相媲美的，绝对不会便宜。
COBRA2700那也有点太高了。事实上，很多人的COBRA可能没那么高。当然也不低。
我有一次差点都被FIRE了，HR找我谈话，我当然就问了COBRA，那是08年，我们的COBRA
大概是900多一个月。现在肯定更高一点。
如果你长期失业，当然OBAMACARE能替你省钱，但是这不是我们希望看到的。
短期来说，OBAMACARE只能应急，按我们的收入，保费肯定不低。
但是即使这样还是有了一定的保障。因为慢慢地岁数大了，就有了一些病。对于有病的
人，如果不走GROUP INSURANCE，那保费是很惊人的，如果保险公司还给你保的话。
现在保险公司就不能拒绝你，即使你有癌症。而且保费还不能太离谱/

供参考：
1. Cobra都有一个回溯期，大概30-45天左右，所以如果你这个手术如果是在这期间做
的，然后你还来得及在这个45天内补上Cobra你该交的费用，Cobra也确认生效后，你的
这个费用Cobra是会替你承担的。这个我也是问了我前任雇主的HR并确认无误的。当时
我也是有1个月gap，不知如何是好，他们就提供了这个回溯期的信息，和版上其他朋友
给我的建议一致。但我没有在gap期间去医院，所以不知道实际操作起来的状况。
2. 我的新任雇主，在我报到第一天给的答复确实是一个月到一个半月才能拿保险卡，
但是我这期间的费用还是可以cover（当然我已经选好了保险公司和plan，一切都ready
了），只是没有保险卡而已。所以建议你再去和新雇主沟通下，看看新的保险公司能否
cover。
3. 如果前两者都行不通，那就只好去找医院哭穷了。。。实在要交，就当破财消灾了
，想开点，也没啥，钱都是赚的回来的，身体好比啥都重要。

1) It's a bit expensive;
2) It takes time to process.
Two HR people told me a tip about this, basically one can wait for 45 days
before enrolling COBRA. Theoretically one can visit doctors and use medical
service,
and buy the COBRA later to cover it. There might be some technical issues
there, e.g.,
maybe one need to pay some fees up front, and file insurance claim later for
reimbursement.
