刚开始onsite的时候,没有什么经验,觉得聊得开心就有戏。后来发现老美只不过是表
面客套而已。而且最明显的是SC或者Faculty投票之后。排名出来之前各种客气,发
email各种热情回复,说什么时候会开会,而且会议结果出炉便会马上告诉你之类。结
果你发现都是假的,排名出来了他也不告诉你,发email直接就不回了。(非TOP
candidate) 感觉这个candidate排名是很sensitive的,是不是透露了要负法律责任?

面试最重要。
top candidate搞砸的事情太多见了。而且有时候top candidate来了之后大家突然发现
他/她其实没有文章里面显示的那么聪明。
以前我做博士后的那个系也时常招人。那时候我也抱着学习的心态去听他们的seminar
。有一个人,有三篇CNS (都是一作),但是seminar 讲的那是一个惨不忍睹啊,让人
怀疑他在那些项目里到底起了多大作用。后来毫无疑问的是offer 没有给他。

2个月前的onsite,现在拿到通知很有可能是top candidate没有take offer。一般都是
给top candidate一到两个月的时间考虑,耐心等吧。

有几个candidates天气原因reschedule onsite到三月下旬了。committtee说等面完马
上开会讨论,但是届时离我面试已经有一个月多了,他们会淡忘我,只会对推迟面试的

你要是有offer可以用offer去催一下,可能会有个比较明确的答复给你。
按照个人估计,你应该不是top candidate, 但是也不时完全没有希望,大部分的 top
candidate都有几个offer在手,不一定会去。

我当时也是在面试前两天知道了另外两个candidates,和你一样心灰意冷的感觉,不过
后来闷头睡了一觉醒来心态好了点,要对自己说面试不是跟别人竞争,是跟自己竞争。
我最后拿到了offer, first choice of candidate. 面试最重要的是能力和
personality的match,明不明星不重要。

Normally, the chair will try to move as fast as possible because good
candidates may have multiple offers. Once the Dean gives the go-ahead, the

我是今年刚开始工作的新人,这学期serve一个faculty search committee上。刚看到
committee chair发给我们的candidate的itinerary,这个candidate只有一天的on-
campus interview,但那天正好是我们的house closing date。怎么办呢?
committee一共只有三个人,我不参加估计不好吧?而且search committee chair可能
也是我将来tenure committee chair,不想因为私事让他对我有意见。但是我们买房子
的地方离学校很远,closing加上来回路上得快一天了。怎么办? house closing也是
改了日期的,之前定好的时间因为我学校有事拖到现在了,不能再拖了。请给位给些意
见?谢谢!

觉得这个说法有点奇怪,top candidate应该只有一个吧。。。应该是list里面排名比

两周时间太短,估计还没开faculty会议呢。除非你面试的非常晚。
但这是一个好信号。

大家好,最近在找工作,收到hr的email说"let you know you’ve been identified
as THE finalist candidate!",然后要填一个application form,包含期望薪水。
在此希望有经验的朋友能分析一下这个到拿到offer还有多远,如果出现以下情况会是
如何,谢谢!
1. 期望薪水填的比较高,可能超出hr的期望range;
2. 期望薪水填的比较低;(这个应该很好解决,直接拿offer了)
关键是1中接下来的情况会如何,有多大的概率hr直接pass到下一个candidate或者hr愿
意negotiate?

phd毕业多年了,居然连怎么做talk都不知道。完全在泛泛地浅浅地survey his area,
而不是讲自己的工作。
尼玛你以为我们请你来是让你给我们科普的吗?
就算是科普,他这个科普水平也太差了。字体极小,图极小,slides感觉很cheap。英
语很差,专业基础知识也很差。
还很自以为是。

我就是想说,我作为candidate也被歧视过,可面试官们绝对不会认为是自己看走了眼
,只认为candidate是个nuts,也许是个人口味不同。
话又说回来了,那些MIT被拒的不也是种种原因被低估了或被无视了么,就算人家是
genius,在面试官眼里怎么看怎么nuts
面试是个很主观的过程。

我们公司属于最hot startup 之一,有大量的FLAG前员工。我们组偏数据分析一类。今
天看recruiter 提供的她们 screen 过的 candidates 名单,这是 number of
candidates:
- software engineer - devops: 30
- software engineer - developer: 70
- software engineer - hadoop ops: 5
- new graduate: 400
发个广告,如果有hadoop dev and ops 经验的,本人可以帮忙推荐,不只一个
position。即便在硅谷,要找有这方面经验的人也很不容易。
其实本人就负责 phone screen, bar可能会有点高,但前景应该比flg强多了。有兴趣
的可以私信联系,我再提供 job link. 本不想在public forum 发这种东西,但现在实
在招不到人。

recruiter工作内容决定了对合适的candidate
他们都是非常乐意帮忙
并且具有主观意愿希望合适的人进来
所以如果面试官总黑人
recruiter会有察觉
举个例子我最近面的几个candidate都是老中和白人
recruiter也不希望把烙印塞给我被我毙掉
同理
recruiter也不希望把老中塞给烙印给毙掉
有事多跟recruiter通通气
有帮助的
当然水平凹到不会写递归的fibonacci的
还是先练练leetcode。。。

组里要招director,她是唯一的一个中国人candidate,interview表现中规中矩,说实
话挺好的,比我们内部的几个candidate表现的都好。interview完了后组里讨论她的表
现,争议比较大。我狠狠地夸了她,感觉我的夸奖还是被组里同事认可的。应该说是改
变了其他同事的一些想法。
感觉还是很开心的,能帮助中国人吧。总不能让印度人一手遮天吧。我只能帮她到这了
。希望她good luck。
