最近看到一篇文章如下,难道简历里面qualification 或skill栏里面不能出现类似
highly self-motivated, excellent communication skills, problem-solving
skills 等词汇吗? 我是在qualification里面写了的,因为job description 的
requirement有。 但是后面具体经历栏, publication栏可以证明前面所说的这些
skill。这样可以吗?
还是这些比较虚的buzzwords都不要写?

0,千万不要看点科技博客,小文章就觉得懂design了,千万不要!常见design题有什
么用,还是被大牛们按在地上摩擦了!所以下面都是我自己总结出来的合适答案,可能
还是会导致你被按在地上摩擦,大家随便看看。
1,Uber NY的Bar很高,尤其是design bar,不想浪费机会的小伙伴还是申Uber SF吧。
刷算法基本对Uber NY没用的,目前Uber NY就没有new grad,第一批new grad的要求必
然是overflow的。
2,几乎纯Design面试,new grad永远的痛,狠狠一巴掌打在自以为design很熟的我脸
上。面我的四个人都干过小公司CTO甚至大公司的技术核心,“你们这些说名词的new
grad,根本不懂design的境界”。
3,真机IDE测试,能bug free就bug free,对方的笑容不代表他认可你先run再debug。
大家都是专业的,笑容什么都不代表。

我觉得代沟的出现是因为人的成长过程会给这个人留下烙印,从而对这个人将来潜意识
显意识的行为带来影响。这些烙印很深的,基本成人一生就是一个(不成功的)
unlearn it的过程,它不是轻轻巧巧地学一些年轻世代的buzzwords,或者学年轻人玩
玩网络游戏,给网上形象换衣服,或者什么用品都是粉红色带hello kitty logos,就
能拉近和年轻人的距离。这最多能给人“老黄瓜刷绿漆”印象,年轻人嘴上不说,背后
会在一起来嘲笑。也不是对年轻人消费观念邯郸学步就换得来,这样的话,不能买来真
潇洒的形象,因为精神气质不符,只会给小女友小男友exploit作冤大头。也不是自我
暗示积极进取冒险就能换来的,这样反而失却阅历给人的宝贵礼物--审慎严密。
有人说70岁和80岁没有什么差别云云,其实不然。是我们自己年轻人看他们都是老年人

最近看了很多简历,中国人的都没有什么出彩的地方,最多也就是OK,有个别的简直可
以用惨不忍睹来形容,倒是印度人的简历很多都很漂亮,presentation也做的很好,当
然一要具体编程印度人立马露馅原形毕露了。
我最近看了三个中国人的简历, 排版,用词,组织,细节。同样一个实习生的经历,
中国人的简历干瘪瘪的几句话,烙 印的可以写的天花乱坠,一堆buzzword,虽然其实
屁都不懂。

我有一次参加一个中国的超算项目的workshop,是广州还是深圳的。其实就是买很多
CPU和GPU组的服务器阵列。也没有做很多特别的系统优化。但是给人的感觉就是花钱堆
起来就行了,跑了几个常见的科学算法benchmark,fluid dynamic这种。但是并没有什
么有用的应用跑在上面,除非是军方项目保密不能宣传。
实际上超算项目从商业角度并不划算,现在的各种开源大数据技术和云计算(虽然两个
都是buzzword)利用廉价硬件和不针对个别应用做太多优化,但是利用系统本身的多户
多线程实现计算资源的充分使用,投入产出比其实经济的多

几个建议:
1.多用一些buzzword,看看最近行业内流行什么往上套。
2.多用一些metrics,不要列一堆你现在做过些什么,要写你做这些东西有什么成效,
比如improve the accuracy by 50%,或者makes the algorithm 30% faster,或者my
team ranked #2 among 12 teams.
3.用词和排版要consistent,比如大部分句子都是形容词开头,有一句动词开头就很突
兀。排版要干净整洁,不要一堆字都堆在一起密密麻麻的,还要考虑字体优雅美观,要
挑那些方方正正的字体,看着专业一些。一定要注意不能有语法和时态错误,会给人你
不用心不认真的负面印象。
4.要多强调一下自己是team player,而且不能简单的说一下,要举些例子,比如说

dept is the most academic-ish level in universities. at the college level
and above, life is pretty much like that in the house of cards. people talk
about and work with resources and connections. research? that is one of
their cards, especially when there are related awards and buzzwords.
in some sense, dept-level politics, no matter how severe it is, is merely
about ego. some newbie level of real politics.

在板上学了很多东西,现在工作基本搞定,汇报一下,希望能对大家有帮助。
先说下我的情况,原来phd老板没钱了,转到一个三流学校读CS master. 水平呢,是很
差的,这个后面会慢慢写。所以高人牛人就高抬贵手,放过俺吧。
去年12月毕业的。从10月份就开始准备简历,修修补补,适当夸张,BUZZWORD列了一堆
。当时很不幸把需要H1b放上去了,从此好公司都不理我, ICC天天找我。出于锻炼印
度英语听力的目的,和很多ICC吹了半天。最后月底手机爆了。
因为现在快速搞CS master的中国人不多,班上80%都是老印。加上有个印度小妞长得挺
好看,我没事就和她练印度英语,在interview过程中和很多老印谈笑风生。
和ICC操练结束后,我把简历从新美化了一下,去掉了H1b要求。12月不少recruiter开
始找我。这里面也是鱼龙混杂,什么人都有。有个家伙每次打电话都问我最近interviw
那里了,从来不给我安排机会。
有的recruiter比较仔细,把你现在的情况/公司的要求弄得很清楚。有的recrutier就
是随便把你的简历乱递。
终于俺的第一个比较正式的电话interview

恩,其实我还专门对那个公司最近常常见诸报端的buzzword product谈了下感想,可能
是头牌tech company,所以他们听奉承的话都已经听麻木了。

SOA is distributed in nature any way I think.
I don't thing many people can really hands on hard core big data problem,
senior people in core team may be. I think most people are just scratching
the surface when they put buzzword "big data", "large scale" on the resume.

怎么感觉现在工作都是各种buzzword, big data, cloud, machine learning,
personalization啥的,楼主眼睛可得擦亮啊
