沿Arno河終於走到Ponte Vecchio橋邊，果然是這樣古老和古怪的一座橋。也許可以想
像一下趙州橋上如果在宋代建了兩排小商舖並保留至今的感覺。當然佛羅倫斯的這座橋
要比趙州橋大很多。橋兩邊的商舖自古為小商舖買賣，現在仍是如此，不過近代一直以
金舖著稱。
我們到的時候，夜幕已然降臨，舖面關門了，每個商舖用似乎很有歷史的厚木板封住，
木板上嵌著一般只有在教堂才會看見的長鐵栓，尾端打成花狀。這應該是加固木頭並作
鎖的。不少木板上還留有食指長度的正方形小孔，可以看見木板背後的情形。
原來裡面竟不止一個房間，也不止一層，有的擱著桌椅，似乎可以起居生活，我想，也許
幾百年前，每一間店鋪就是一個人或者一家人的全部世界了吧。月亮慢慢升起河面，投
下長長的黑影，那些厚重的木板將我帶入一個古老的世界。
像這樣橋上建有商舖房子的，在威尼斯也有一座，Rialto橋是威尼斯城正中，大
運河Grand Canal上。兩座橋的中間段都留有一節沒有房子，這樣就有很多遊人憑欄而
立，
留影遠眺。後面第三晚我們還遇到有一個band在這個空檔開音樂會。

made me miss my travelling days...
Lee writes with a voice I cannot quite grasp, maybe he tries too hard. I
quitted half way.
Ishiguro writes well I have to admit and I like the story.

some of the most popular books on both the English language, as well as
travels around Europe and America. Michael Crichton's "Travels" is more
autobiographical than most travel writings, keeping in mind that he's a snob
and sometimes a misogynist, it's still fun to read. :)
Adventure writing is another closely related genre, Jon Krakuaer is by far the
most successful writer in the recent years. "Into the Wild" and "I |

发帖数: 682 | 22 强烈赞同！ 我是初中时候看得英文版， 狂感动， 反反复复看了无数遍， 英文写作风
格都受影响了。 大学里专业英语写作第一堂课老师要大家随便写点啥， 结果大伙都被
批得体无完肤说是用中文思考写英文， 就表扬我的语感不错。 这都是Love Story的功
劳！所以做启蒙读物很好。
不过个人以为女生可能会更喜欢一点。男的不能保证。
另外从可读性讲， Agatha Christie的侦探小说也不错， 悬念能让你一直读下去， 语
言也不难。 那个Ten Little Indians （又名Then There Are None) 很经典的。
另外语言幽默的， 我很喜欢Bill Bryson, 最开始大学教授推荐的。 I'm a stranger
here myself. 讲他青年时代离开美国到英国生活， 中年又回到故国的种种感受经历，
很有趣。 对于我们这种从国外来到美国生活的说不定还有共鸣。 他也有不少游记，
喜欢travel的人可以看一看。 |

），"The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid" (作者童年回忆），“A Short
History of Nearly Everything”都简浅风趣，是我的首推。
Nick Hornby 的 "About a Boy" (有Hugh Grant电影版）， Mark Haddon的“The
Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time”都好象算是流畅而词汇量要求比
较低的，不过这都是英国作家。
The New Yorker 每期都有一部分文章全文登在他们网站上，你可以找Malcolm
Gladwell的看看。 |
