发帖数: 14569 | 2 Thanks for the info! I just ordered Mike Lawrence's overcall/balancing/play
bridge with/dynamic defense. I like Mike Lawrence, he has a knack to show the
logic instead of just telling the solution.
For that reason, I don't like David Bird's "Famous ..." series, it just
collect a lot of fabulous hands/bidding, I don't learn much from that. Abbot's
stories go to that category too, just for fun, not for improving.
I like Kelsey a lot. Especially his 4 small books, those problems are well
designed. |

players. You may try to set up some fixed partnership there I think. |

bridge, it's really a big joke. I don't really agree with all of Truscott's
points. However, he does speak out some truth about the modern trend of the
destructive methods. The destructive methods can't really hurt top players
in theory, but it's really a bad idea to allow this kind of methods in short
matches, because it's virturally impossible for opponents to have a good

No, I am not only talking about bermuda bowl. bridge is somehow a game of
regulations nowadays. There were a lot of ruling disputes in recent top level
matches.
One thing I am sure is that you can't really understand strong pass system,
nightmare, etc in half a week.
Well, that's aggressiveness, not really destructive. I've read a lot of
their hands actually. Actually Meckwell's system is quite straight forward
comparing with other destructive methods: like 8-10 super light 1NT,

personal feelings and prejudices, let's just talk about bridge.
I think it's natural for people to explore the weakness of the law if the law
is not mature enough. And the process of maturing the regulation may take
several generations. Just lamenting among our groups wouldn't move things. If
you have strong opinion, write to your district representative/director. After
all ACBL is a democratic body.

Reese and shapiro were not banned.
A formal investigation was conducted after
that event. Reese and schapiro were found NOT guilty. But the WBF,
controlled by american bridge authority, have no intention
to withdraw its accusation and recognize their integrity. Therefore,
Reese and shapiro refused to participate any WBF event from then on.
Actually, one doesn't need to know this and can conclude what had happened. If
they were convicted guilty, why didn't WBF cancel

Sx HQxxxx Dxxxxx CKx, I would at least raise 2H to 3H with this hand.
4H is possible when partner holds something like:
SAxxxx HAxxxx Dx CAx
South should double 2H to disclose the psych.
Also, it really makes no diffence what Alan Truscott said about R and S
's bridge. There were just many persons witnessed that R and S cheated.
Also, R and S are not strong enough comparing with Italian guys at that time.

competition is probably much better in US than anywhere else -- probably due
to the fact that your bridge level is largely proportional to who you play
with. But given the increasing popularity of internet games, the chance of

But not this. I would say anybody who could solve those double dummy problems
should be very good players.
Still, winning bridge is a mistake-minimizing game. Just look this world
champion. No fancy skill needed. But good bidding is really important. Like

an average bridge player. Also, the thinking of solving problems and
the thinking of real life games are very different.
When solving a problem, you know it is a problem, there must be
something special in it, there must be a key. For real life games,
you may not even identify it as a "problem" before you have made a

1. that webside is nothing related to double dummy.
2. IMHO, dbl dummy is only a problem like math or logic, which is a little far
away from normal bridge.
3. that webside is more like teaching book, which tells you what information
to use and what to think in order to beat or make the contracts. that is the
way to improve your skill
4. it seems nobody ever have a good look at that webside before giving
opinions.

i spent most of my time in the two programs by Fred Gitelman, the founder of
BBO - Learn to Play Bridge 1/2. i think they are pretty good for beginners,

at bridges practice center, the farthest flag is 243 or 246. even i saw some
balls around that flag. i never saw anybody hit there in person.
when i practice there, i usually watch big hitter during the breaks. turned
out i never saw anybody in person hit to or over that flag. of course,
taken range ball lack of bounce into account...

的第二多的场子了,可能打过5次,CONDITION很好,设计也非常有意思.攻略我从另外一个
哥们那学了很多,但是作用有限,可以周日象你免费提供:)
我觉得你说的几个没打好的洞在策略上都没问题.大家一般都是这么打,唯一的区别是,
第七,十洞我一般都是直接用DRIVER攻.有时会打丢球.
这个球场对经常SLICE的人是个NIGHTMARE,因为右边全是沟,左边都是山坡,经常能滚下
来.
蓝梯,白梯其实区别不大,因为很多炮台开球,所以距离不是大问题,准确度最重要.
