发帖数: 1274 | 4 good to know we can use seal on brick pavement.我刚铺了两条小路在侧院，沙子
填缝这件事情，真是说起来容易做起来难，前后扫了四五遍沙子，很多缝看上去还是空
的。
mortar base的brick pavement不建议DIY，要在mortar干以前切砖铺花样，难度还是挺
大的。干铺砖的话，4寸石子+2寸沙子，砖头就坐得很瓷实了。edge还是有必要的，可
以在铺石子以前围边，也可以之后；可以买现成的edge，也可以用砖；用砖的话，比较
常见就是你图上这种solider pattern
我觉得，brick pavement追求的就是自然，多少有些高低不平，缝隙有些大小差别都无
所谓，更不会成天拿扫把去扫，顶多拿hose没事儿冲冲就是了。我家有一个mortar
based brick patio，打扫起来也不容易，因为mortar缝总是凹下去的，要用扫把一条
缝一条缝的清理。所以对沙子啥的，就视而不见算了。 |

If you use regular paver, you can do it on loose sand and then broom sand
into the spaces between pavers. Sometime people use cement instead, which
sound to be better but actually worse than sand. As cement will become solid
and when the ground moves, they will break.
If you want to do a brick and mortar patio, then you need to pour a 4"
concrete pad and then lay the brick and mortar on the pad. Otherwise, as
winter comes, the ground will heave and the brick and mortar will crack. Y |

grading,他们图画错了。我说的brick basement grading就是这个图上显示的，
walkout basement处了背面有门的这个墙是drywall, 其他三面都是水泥墙，然后四周
露出地面的部分都用brick包起来。 |

子真不难找的，但是也没看见木头房子卖的比砖头房子慢。木头房子没那么容易坏，砖
头房子也不是一劳永逸，如果是那种真正的brick contruction的house（不是brick
siding），过一段时间就要请mason做repointing brick,那个费用可真不低，虽然不需
要刷外墙。我家2种都住过，要真大修还是木头房子便宜，美国的泥水匠真是请不起。 |

括很难改门窗size大小，如果换门窗的话必须跟以前的一模一样大小，否则动到石头或
者砖的话，contractor说他们做不了，你要请mason bla bla.不过如果是brick siding
的话这些都不是问题，因为brick只是veneer，只起到装饰性的作用而已。还有，我感
觉美国的砖头房子跟国内的砖头房子还是不一样，国内的房子内墙什么的都是水泥的，
这里的砖头房子感觉是砖头/石头房子里又套了一个木头房子的感觉，外面的砖头是起
到structural的作用，里面内墙什么的都还是木头的。 |

时间：将近两个月。
面积：620 平方英尺， 宽20 ft 长35 ft
工作：拆除旧的brick patio，约350 sq ft，建一个矮墙一小平台，剩下的铺brick
patio。
成本：1600美元。
如果满分100的话，也就给自己打个60分。不管怎么说总算是做好了，但是里面太多问
题没有考虑到。
第一就是：严重低估了工作量。把旧的砖石移除，平整土地，新的砖石，沙土，水泥，
一共17吨多。和老婆说的weekend project，随便铺铺平，差了十万八千里。要是事先
知道的话，打死我也不干。
第二：天气不好。maryland这里前几个星期非常热，还经常下雨。买好的水泥，一看天
气不好，就要赶紧搬到室内。。。每天能工作的时间太少。
第三：没有好的规划。youtube上面，homedepot里面都有教材。但是那些都是比较小的

brick veneer就是很薄的一层的砖(<1cm)。我仔细看了一下前墙，发现外面是一层大概
10cm的砖层，砖层坐在地基伸出来的一个倒L形状的金属框架上。这种也叫veneer吗？ |

，就现在做。
我们家的砖头墙全部重新做了（也就是把原来的扒掉），大概也就800 sqft，当时砖头
部分花了我整整$18K，而且包工头号称啥钱都没有賺到，好多活原来答应干的都不干了
，差点和他们闹上法庭。。。我在新泽西，这边破人工很贵。。。
我们用的是Glen Gery Molded bricks和他们的有颜色的mortar，光mortar就要六七百
，brick我记得是55分钱一块，大概是$2600的砖头。。。 |

是从左向右逐渐变低，builder说的是brick
grading. 但看到这张图片的时候觉得不对劲，背面到basement 的高度不应该都是
brick吗？侧面都是啊，难道是画图的人忘了？而且本来说过basement会有一个窗户，
结果在图纸上也没看到。
我在google map上看到别人家的walkout basement的房子basement四面grade都是砖或

结构。砖是普通厚度但不是完全实心的，请见下图。请问神器三代风机可以装在这样的
砖墙侧面吗？
broan风机型号是332H或335，重量是35-38pounds，又大又沉，这么装上牢靠吗？有点
怕打开风机后震动对外墙有影响。如果可以装在墙上的话，有什么方法能加固一下吗？

base does have the problem the other guy mentioned: it will mingle with dirt
and leaves and years later, weeds will grow in the space...
If you want to do it right, you should put a few inches gravel (item4, etc.)
, compact as base, then either pour your concrete pad with wire mesh
reinforcement, and then brick and mortar. This will be the best solution.

砖不保温，保温的是墙里的保温材料。保温材料中真正的保温成份是空气 :)
brick veneer不是为了结实用的，主要是装饰，而且比其他的siding更容易维护。 |
